Sweet peas: a wealth of benefits for children

Health benefits

Snow peas are a mine of nutritional benefits. It provides in particular vitamins (C, B9), fibers, antioxidants (beta-carotene) and minerals (potassium).

Pro tips

To choose them well, we opt for gourmet peas with a firm pod, light green and translucent in color. A good reference point: we must be able to see the seeds by transparency! And, we do not forget the spotted pods.

Conservation side : fresh snow peas are very quickly perishable. Sold only a few hours after picking, they must be consumed the same day under penalty of losing their nutritional qualities as well as their taste. Frozen snow peas will of course keep longer.

To prepare them, it’s faster than peas since there is no need to shell them, we eat everything! Moreover, they are also called “mange-tout”. Just run them under cold water and cook them.

Fast cooking. Steamed to keep all of their nutritional benefits or in boiling water for a few minutes. Or return to the pan for more crunch.

Magical associations

Cru. If it is tender and very fresh, sweet peas can be eaten raw with a drizzle of olive oil.

Cooked. It goes very well with other spring vegetables such as beans or asparagus. Or even new carrots.

Back to the pan with a little garlic and butter, it goes wonderfully with meats and poultry.

Did you know ? So that the snow peas keep their beautiful green color, they are quickly run under cool water after cooking.
