Soul vs body: series on the topic

“In a healthy body healthy mind. In fact, one of the two ”- in this, the creators of modern serials seem to agree with the poet. They hardly admit the possibility of the victory of the hero’s spirit over the problems of the mortal body. But sometimes it does happen.

Dr. House, this Mont Blanc of sanity, did not focus on the presence of a soul in patients, and even relieved his own pain in an injured leg exclusively with a pharmaceutical product, Vicodin. One of the most impressive things about the futuristic series Beyond (one of its producers is Steven Spielberg) is how, in the world of the future, an amputated limb is replenished with a nanodigital prosthesis indistinguishable from a natural one.

In the space of a quality series, science is omnipotent and rationalism and positivism dominate: what cannot be touched and tasted is psychologically unreliable.

And if something comes from territories that have not yet been verified by science, it is not good. For example, until recently, Vivian, hopelessly ill with cancer from “Joking” about an idealistic TV presenter, a depressed comedian, is going through remission – because a new relationship with the hero of Jim Carrey instilled in her the will to live. But that’s why she resolutely breaks up with him.

The “psychological” series still believes in the dualism of the body and soul, in their mutual exclusion.

“The relationship made sense when time was running out,” she says. And now, when time has continued for her, the savior reminds her of death …

From death – a stroke – the bed rises in an extremely short time and Logan Roy, the patriarch-media mogul from the “Heirs”. He, a man of will and purpose, was brought back to life by his desire to continue ruling his amoral tabloid empire. And with the return of Roy, his adult children do not show their best properties …

The “psychological” series still believes in the dualism of body and soul, in their mutual exclusion. And, it turns out, he shares one of the fundamental religious dogmas. Which is shameful for a positivist-rationalist.

“Kidding”directed by Michel Gondry. Cast: Jim Carrey, Frank Langella, Catherine Keener.

The Heirs, created by Jesse Armstrong. Cast: Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Hiam Abbass.
