Snow art: making a snowman with the whole family

Nothing brings you closer in winter than sculpting a snowman together. It would seem that what can go wrong here? And yet, even in such a simple winter fun, there are subtleties. Here are some simple rules that will help you make great snowmen and enjoy the process.

Building materials on special order

Do not rush to immediately run outside to make snowmen, as soon as the first snow fell. Dry fluffy snow mass is not suitable for such an occupation. The snow should be loose and moderately moist. It is easy to check this. Roll a small snowball in your gloves. If it turned out to be dense and of the correct shape, you can safely get down to business.

A workshop for working on a large scale

Choose a snow-covered area with a reserve of free space. After all, you will have to roll big balls. It is desirable that the thickness of the snow cover is not less than 8-10 cm, otherwise the snowman will turn out to be small and interspersed with dirt. Install a snowman in the shade — in the rays of the sun it will quickly melt, even when surrounded by snowdrifts. For the same reason, you should not plant a snowman on the asphalt.

The art of rolling balls

First, make a small snowball, and then start rolling it in the snow in different directions. If you roll it only forward, you will get a cylinder instead of a ball. Do not forget about the proportions and do not get carried away with the size. Remember that you will have to put the rolled second ball on the first one. To make it hold securely, level and slightly tamp the lower ball, making a small platform for the second ball.

We strengthen the body and mind

With a strong gust of wind, the snowman can fall apart. To avoid this, strengthen the structure. Take some more snow and tamp it tightly at the junction of the snow balls. Then smooth out the uneven protruding areas with your hands in mittens so that they become invisible.

A snowman with a human face

It remains to give the snowman an attractive appearance. Limbs are best built from twigs or twigs, eyes and mouth – from pebbles, and nose-from carrots. However, you can deviate from the canons and bring decorative eyes for crafts from home, drawing eyelashes and eyebrows with them. Instead of a bucket, you can put an old knitted hat or a felt hat on your head. It’s great if you have worn mittens, scarves, headbands, scarves, caps and other accessories. In the hands of a snowman, you can give a broom or improvised ski poles.

These simple recommendations will help you remember forgotten skills, and things will go much more fun. Do not deny yourself the pleasure of feeling like a child again — make your own snowman with the whole family and charge others with positive emotions.
