Singapore bans ads for sugary soda and instant coffee

The Singapore authorities have decided on drastic measures to combat diabetes. Thus, it was announced that it would ban any advertising of non-alcoholic beverages containing a lot of sugar, juices, yoghurt drinks and instant coffee.

Moreover, advertising in all mass media will be prohibited. However, this ban will not come yet, in 2020 the authorities will announce its exact date. In the meantime, producers have time to revise the sugar content in their products, and consumers – to think about those drinks that will be banned – do they really need them, because it is not in vain that they will soon find themselves “in disgrace”.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health also said that manufacturers will soon have to color-code such drinks, which will contain information about their harm to human health and their sugar content. The authorities, in addition, will consider a proposal to increase the excise tax on such drinks and even a complete ban on their sale.

Recall that earlier we talked about how the use of soda can turn out, and also warned about which drink simply kills tooth enamel.

Be healthy!
