Signs of pregnancy in the first two weeks, stomach ache

The first two weeks of pregnancy are usually asymptomatic, but sometimes you can notice mood swings, slight discharge of a faint pink or brownish color. If a woman usually calculates the gestational age of 2 weeks from the day of conception, then for the doctor it will be already the 4th week.

Pregnancy two weeks: how the term is calculated

There are 2 different approaches to counting the gestational age: obstetric and fetal.

Already in the first two weeks of pregnancy, the body begins to rebuild.

  • Obstetric. This is what doctors adhere to. They count from the first day of the last menstrual period. There is no question of pregnancy itself, the body is just preparing for fertilization.
  • Embryonic. The beginning of pregnancy is measured from conception. According to gynecologists, this is already the 4th week. During this period, the fetus is fixed in the uterus and is a lump of cells.

Some women count their interesting position from the delay of menstruation, but this is the wrong approach. From an obstetric point of view, this is the 6th week of pregnancy. The fetus has already begun to form vital organs. So, during an ultrasound scan, you can hear the beating of a small heart.

Signs of pregnancy in the first two weeks

There are no obvious symptoms yet. A woman may not know about her condition, however, a lot of changes are observed in the body during this period. For example:

  • The lining of the uterus (endometrium) thickens, the reason for this is the hormone estrogen.
  • The level of progesterone rises. This hormone is responsible for the nutrition of the fetus.
  • Rectal (basal) temperature changes. Before ovulation, it goes down.

What else is remarkable about two weeks of pregnancy? The stomach hurts, the chest swells, there is increased excitability. Especially often expectant mothers complain of discomfort in the lower abdomen and a feeling of heaviness in the groin. This phenomenon is characteristic of the period of ovulation and can last the entire second phase of the cycle.

The best thing to do in this case is to try to relax and drink a soothing tea. In no case should you use a heating pad to relieve pain, this can lead to internal bleeding due to vasodilation.

Since from a medical point of view, the second week is only the preparation of the body for conception, you need to reconsider your habits and daily routine. Doctors recommend:

  • Forget about alcohol and cigarettes.
  • Do not visit saunas and bath complexes. Take not hot, but warm baths.
  • Do not abuse intimate gels, because in this case the vaginal microflora is destroyed.
  • Drink more fruit drinks, for example, from cranberries, rose hips. They are suppliers of vitamin C.
  • Take vitamin E and folic acid. These elements are involved in the formation of the central nervous system of the unborn child.

By adhering to these recommendations, you can give birth to a healthy baby.
