A bit of history: style “romanticism” is characteristic of European and American culture of the 18th century – the first half of the 19th century. He is opposed to the styles of “classicism” and the Enlightenment.

It seems that the name of the style “romanticism” speaks for itself. It is characterized by sophistication, lightness, dreaminess, sensuality … In order to represent romanticism in the interior, one should remember its representatives in culture. There are, of course, many of them, but here are some of them: in literature they are George Byron, John Keats, Edgar Poe, Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev, in music – Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; in painting – Karl Bryullov, Francisco Goya, William Turner.

Now about the interior. The “romantic” style in a house, apartment or a separate room is, first of all, warm and pastel colors, diffused daylight, expensive fabrics and luxurious furniture.

A room in the style of romanticism always looks very cozy. But if, decorating an apartment in the spirit of minimalism, you don’t have to bother too much, then you will have to try hard. All decor details should be ideally matched with each other both in shape and colors.

First of all, it is worth deciding on the main color of the room. Peach, milky, beige, lilac, blue and pale pink shades are best associated with romanticism.

Particular attention should be paid to details. The room must have paintings, vases with fresh flowers, floor lamps, soft pillows, books, boxes, tableware …

The kitchen and dining room should be bright. It is good if the windows face the sunny side, but this does not replace artificial lighting either. A properly chosen chandelier, luxurious and refined, is an important element of the romanticism style. It can be supplemented with sconces or table lamps.

Also, a romantic interior is unthinkable without antique furniture, or at least similar decor items.

The bedroom in the spirit of romanticism looks very sophisticated. Walls with flowers or geometric patterns and curtains on windows with beautiful draperies look especially beautiful.

And the bed. It is better that it is large, and that the linen on it is in harmony with the whole room in color.
