PSYchology

Can you imagine a treatise on how to divide by zero, written by a serious mathematician, despite the fact that even first graders know that you cannot divide by zero?

It would seem that a book on the philosophy of stupidity should be just as impossible. For philosophy is, by definition, the love of wisdom, which denies stupidity. Nevertheless, the Polish philosopher Jacek Dobrovolsky very convincingly demonstrates that stupidity is not only possible, but even inevitable, no matter how high the human mind climbs. Turning to history and modernity, the author discovers the origins and prerequisites of stupidity in religion and politics, in art and philosophy itself, finally. But for those who expect a collection of «funny stories» about stupidity from the book, it is better to look for other reading. The Philosophy of Stupidity is indeed a serious philosophical work, although not without a share of provocation, of course.
