In her book “Organize your wedding”, Marina Marcout, a marriage specialist, in collaboration with Inès Matsika, explains that the best advice for the bride and groom is the word “anticipation”. No room for improvisation for such an important day, we have to plan this day and evening in great detail, almost two years before. The most important thing, according to Marina Marcourt, once the date has been chosen with her future husband, is to find the place of the reception free on that date.
Retro-planning one year before the wedding
J- 1 an : Once the date is chosen, you have about a year to complete everything. Everything will come together around this key date. List the guests with their future, find the reception room available on the chosen date, talk about the budget with their companion and the families, religious wedding or not, we comb through all the questions to make this day unforgettable.
Regarding the financing of the wedding, the rule is that the family of the bride takes care of the wedding dress, accessories and outfits of the children of honor. The groom’s family in general takes care of the wedding rings, the traditional bridal bouquet, the groom’s outfit. But nowadays every couple of the bride and groom is free from these conventions.
D-10 months : we elect the lucky one: the caterer! He will face a tall order: serve the perfect menu for this evening. Who says menu says style of reception, and place to feast. It’s up to you to choose which atmosphere you want to give to your wedding: rustic outside, sophisticated in a large room, intimate in a top-of-the-range classified restaurant, etc.

Retro-planning 5 months before the big day
J-5 months: we submit the wedding list to inform the guests of the beautiful gifts we want. More and more couples, living together before marriage, prefer to make a pot available for a honeymoon in the tropics.
Another important choice: cookies. Best friends? Childhood friend ? Cousins siblings ? Who will be the guarantor of this union? Mystery… We choose with our future husband.

D-2 months : We think of ourselves. A few weeks before the big day, we think of reserving the hairdresser and make-up artist, we go back to try again our princess dress, we provide rooms for those who come from far, and we manage the care of the children with grandma.
D- one week : We start to wear our bridal shoes more regularly. We finish agreeing with his lover on the details of the dinner table plan. We find a nice place for each of the guests. We start to think about the bachelor party party. We leave that to our friends, normally, it’s up to them to think about it!
After the big day : we don’t forget to pay the bills, say thank you to the guests and take a closer look at the superb photos of this day, immortalized by the photographer.
