Nutrition for prostate adenoma

General description of the disease

Prostate adenoma (lat. adenoma prostatae) Is a benign neoplasm that develops from the glandular epithelium of the prostate. In the prostate itself, nodular tissue forms, which gradually squeezes and narrows the urethra. Because the tumor is benign, its growth does not cause metastases in other organs.

Almost 50% of men over the age of 50 are faced with this disease, and at an older age, the risk of adenoma increases to 85%.

Diagnosis of the disease is made by a urologist by palpating the gland through the anus, interpreting the clinical analysis of urine and biochemical blood tests, external and internal ultrasound, CT, X-ray, uroflowmetry (determination of the rate of urination).

Treatment of prostate adenoma, depending on the severity and neglect of the disease, can be carried out medically, surgically and nonsurgically.

Varieties of prostate adenoma

Depending on the direction of growth of the adenoma, three types of the disease are distinguished:

  • subbubble – grows in the direction of the rectum;
  • intravesical – grows in the direction of the bladder;
  • a retrotrigonal adenoma is located under the bladder.

Causes

  • overweight;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • bad habits;
  • changes in hormonal balance (male menopause).

Symptoms

Depending on the stage of the disease, growth rate, size and localization of the tumor, the characteristic symptoms also differ:

  • on compensated stage, there is a delay in urination, a weak stream of urine, frequent urge, on palpation, the tumor does not cause pain, the prostate gland is enlarged, but has clear boundaries;
  • on subcompensated stage, there is a rather long retention of urine at the beginning of urination, it does not completely leave the bladder, urine stagnation occurs and there is a feeling of incomplete emptying. The urine is cloudy and bloody. Due to a malfunction of the bladder, signs of renal failure appear.
  • on decompensated stage, a large amount of urine remains in the bladder, which is released in small portions drop by drop, the bladder itself is strongly stretched and has thick walls, the color of urine becomes even more turbid with an admixture of blood.

Also, in the last two stages, general disturbances in the work of the whole organism occur: decreased appetite and weight, anemia, dry mouth, odor of urine from the skin and from exhaled air, chronic constipation, and the formation of kidney stones.

Useful products for prostate adenoma

General recommendations

Excess weight provokes the development of adenoma, so the diet should be balanced, rich in vitamins, trace elements and fiber.

To reduce the overgrown tissue of the gland, you should consume a large amount of products containing polyunsaturated acids (linoleic, alfalinoleic), selenium and zinc. During an exacerbation, the daily intake of these microelements should reach 25 mg (at a rate of 15 mg). There is especially a lot of selenium and zinc in seafood: shrimp, oysters, seaweed, mackerel, herring, mackerel, sardines, salmon, tuna and others. Among plant foods, the largest amount of these elements is found in all legumes, buckwheat and oatmeal, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, mushrooms, celery and parsnips. The best assimilation of selenium occurs in the presence of vitamin A, so fish, vegetables and cereals should be consumed with vegetable oils: pumpkin, sunflower or olive.

Fiber is an essential component of a healthy diet. It improves the functioning of the circulatory system, lowers cholesterol levels, and prevents constipation, which can provoke difficulty urinating and urinary stagnation. The diet should contain a sufficient amount of seasonal vegetables and fruits, as well as greens.

Traditional medicine in the treatment of prostate adenoma

Salt compress… Dissolve table salt (300 dessert l.) In water (70 ml) heated to 1 ° C, moisten gauze folded several times in it, and apply on the perineum. Put a dry cotton cloth on top and put on thick underwear. The compress should be kept until it dries completely, then wash off the remaining salt, lubricate the skin with baby cream and make the compress again. It is necessary to carry out these manipulations from 8 to 10 times per day. The course of such treatment is 2-2,5 months.

Mushroom tincture… For its preparation, shiitaki mushrooms (35 g) should be ground into powder, filled with a strong alcoholic drink (cognac, vodka) or vegetable oil (olive, flaxseed). Let it brew for 10 days in a dark place, after which it should be consumed 3 times a day before meals, 1 tablespoon, dissolved in water (150 ml) of tincture (1 tsp).

Milkweed herb tincture… Dry milkweed root (4 g) must be ground in a coffee grinder, filled with vodka (200 ml.) And let it brew for 10 days. The finished tincture is taken, diluted in water (1 tbsp. L.), 15 drops daily, increasing the dose by drop. When the number of drops reaches 30, it is necessary to reduce the dosage in the same way. Again, after reaching 15 drops, the treatment should be paused for 2 weeks. Then repeat the course.

Dangerous and harmful foods for prostate adenoma

Because prostate adenoma is a benign formation, then during its treatment, fatty meats, spices, hot spices, factory sauces and canned food, smoked meats, fried foods, alcohol, carbonated drinks, strong coffee and tea should be completely excluded from the diet. During the period of drug treatment of an exacerbation of the disease, the load on the urinary system should be reduced, so you should avoid consuming a lot of fluids at night, especially diuretics (rosehip decoction, green tea).

You should also limit the intake of salt, which retains excess water in the body and leads to swelling, high blood pressure and, as a result, to vasoconstriction. And this causes stagnation of blood in the pelvis and urine in the bladder.
