New trend – cotton candy cakes
 

Channel resident Sherri Kelly came up with a “sweet” part-time job – she bought a machine that produces cotton candy. Sherri was hoping for orders for children’s parties and city events. She could not even imagine that a small business would become more popular, albeit in a slightly different format than Sherri had dreamed for herself.

Instead of cotton candy clouds on sticks, the chef now makes cotton candy cakes. 

“At first I made one cake, someone saw it and asked to make it to order, and then everything started spinning like a snowball,” says the pastry chef. – When I started doing this, I thought it would be a part-time job, but I was wrong. Now it takes up all my free time, ”writes kedem.ru about the culinary specialist.

Sherri does not work alone, she has assistants. And the process of making a sugar cake looks like this: cotton candy is laid out in multi-colored layers in plastic cake molds, and then various inscriptions for the cake are manually cut.

 

Cotton candy is a convenient material for cakes, as it pliantly takes the shape in which it is placed. Therefore, it is convenient to make cakes and they turn out to be tall, bright, spectacular, and very instagrammable.

No flour, no eggs – nothing but sugar in these cakes. Just sugar and what are the ingredients to give it flavor and color. 

“In fact, making such cakes is not as easy as it seems, because the cotton candy hardens quickly, so you can’t hesitate,” says Sherri Kelly. “It takes a lot of time to create one cake.” Sherri says she has a lot of orders. The cakes look spectacular, and they can be stored for weeks (if, of course, all conditions are met). 

Paradoxically, the confectioner calls his sugar cakes less high-calorie than traditional ones. In support of this, she points out that the average piece of cotton candy cake contains less than 100 calories, which is much less than traditional cakes.

“My favorite part of creating such creations is watching the reactions of the clients. The messages and calls I receive after the holidays are incredible. I am very pleased that people like my cakes so much, ”she shares her joy.
