Microneedling: all you need to know about this facial treatment

Originally from the United States, microneedling helps reduce acne scars, correct blemishes and improve signs of aging using a technique that consists of microperforating the different layers of the dermis. All our explanations on this treatment.

What is microneedling?

This is a non-invasive treatment, carried out using a small roller made up of around thirty micro-needles. This tool will allow you to pierce the dermis and the epidermis at variable depth. These tiny perforations, invisible to the naked eye, accelerate the assimilation of the serum, defined in advance with the specialist according to your skin problems, and stimulate cell renewal, the production of collagen and elastin.

Imperfections on which microneedling is effective

This technique, effective for enhancing the skin, can be used on both young and mature skin, whether dry, combination or oily, to correct imperfections such as:

  • Dull complexion;
  • Lack of firmness of the skin;
  • Signs of aging: wrinkles, fine lines;
  • Acne scars;
  • Large pores;
  • Regulate excess sebum;
  • Brown spots.

How is the facial treatment carried out?

There are several ways to achieve this perfecting skin treatment.

Microneedling in the institute

It is performed manually with a roller equipped with 0,5 mm thick needles:

  • The face is thoroughly cleansed to remove cellular debris and extract comedones;
  • The serum, rich in active ingredients, is applied to your skin;
  • The beautician uses the roller on the entire face with vertical and horizontal movements;
  • The treatment ends with a facial massage and the application of a mask adapted to your skin type.

Microneedling and radio frequency

Some institutes associate microneedling with radiofrequency, the electromagnetic waves of which will act to stimulate the natural production of collagen. A light therapy session to end the treatment can also be indicated to promote regeneration and boost collagen production.

Microneedling price

The prices of microneedling vary from 150 to 250 euros depending on the institutes and services offered.

Microneedling at home

Formerly reserved for institutes, it is now possible to acquire a dermaroller. The roller will have finer titanium micro-needles, ranging from 0,1 to 0,2 mm. For a facial treatment at home, we start with:

  • Disinfect the dermaroller with a disinfectant spray to prevent bacteria from entering the dermis;
  • Cleanse the skin thoroughly;
  • Apply the serum of your choice on the surface of the skin;
  • Use the dermaroller all over the face, exerting light pressure, from vertical to horizontal;
  • Leave on for a soothing treatment.
