Lead poisoning – Our doctor’s opinion and complementary approaches

As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr. Paul Lépine, general practitioner, gives you his opinion on thelead poisoning :

Our doctor’s opinion

Acute lead poisoning is now rare in North America and Western Europe. However, chronic poisoning remains a concern in integrated medicine, especially in children. Among other things, a blood lead test can be useful in children suffering from neuropsychic disorders (learning disabilities, concentration, development, etc.) or unexplained abdominal pain.

If the dosage is high, finding and eliminating the source (s) of lead is the first step. A very healthy diet, supplemented if necessary by dietary supplements, will do the rest.

Complementary approaches

To date, there is no effective alternative treatment to treat lead poisoning. The recommended approach is prevention.
