Laser Peeling
Laser peeling includes modern and complex face correction. If necessary and desired, it is combined with injections and hardware procedures.

What is laser peeling

The laser peeling method involves the process of destruction of the stratum corneum under the action of a beam without the additional influence of other substances. Laser peeling is a relatively new procedure in cosmetology that allows you to remove a number of significant imperfections from the skin surface: wrinkles, age spots, small bumps, scars and scars after acne.

The method is based on the use of a concentrated laser beam with a given wavelength. Due to its effect, the tissues absorb the energy of the laser pulse and convert it into heat, after which regeneration processes are activated in the skin cells. As a result, the old ones die off, while new ones are actively formed. Increases elastin and collagen, improves blood flow. The undoubted advantage of laser peeling is the ability to work locally, that is, to exert a point effect on a specific area of the skin. The laser device includes a wide range of operating modes, so it can be used to process even the most delicate areas, such as the décolleté area and the skin around the eyes and lips.

Types of laser peeling

Laser peeling is divided into the following types according to the degree of exposure:

Cold laser peeling (YAG erbium laser) affects only the upper layers of the skin, thanks to short beams. Such superficial peeling provides the highest safety, it cannot cause scarring of the skin, but only delicately cleanse and exfoliate old cells. The recovery period is short – from 3 to 5 days.

Hot laser peeling (carbon dioxide laser CO2) acts in layers, is considered a more effective and medium-deep procedure. This method is somewhat painful and can lead to scarring if the technique is not correct. It is prescribed for skin that needs serious restoration: deep scars and wrinkles, pronounced age spots. After a session of hot laser peeling, recovery takes a little longer, but the rejuvenation effect lasts up to a year.

Advantages of laser peeling

  • Restoring skin elasticity and tightening the oval of the face;
  • reduction of deep wrinkles in the most active areas: forehead, mouth and in the corners of the eyes (“crow’s feet”);
  • elimination of imperfections in the form of: scars and scars, pigmentation, moles, stretch marks (stretch marks);
  • reduction of rosacea and enlarged pores;
  • improvement of facial tone;
  • the application of the method is also possible on certain parts of the body;
  • high efficiency already from the first procedure.

Cons of laser peeling

  • Soreness of the procedure

The occurrence of painful sensations during the procedure is not excluded, because in the process of processing areas of the face there is a significant heating of the skin.

  • Long recovery period

After laser peeling, the rehabilitation period can take from 10 days or more.

  • Possible complications

After the end of the session, the skin of the patient’s face acquires a reddish tint. After a few days, the intensity of beauty is reduced to a minimum. Edema and hyperemia are common complications. You need to prepare for the fact that you may need additional antibiotic ointments.

  • Peeling of the top layer of the skin

The laser device affects the connections between the cells of the stratum corneum of the epidermis. After a certain time, they exfoliate, which leads to accelerated division and renewal of deeper layers. Therefore, first crusts appear on the skin, and later it literally peels off in flakes.

  • The cost of the procedure

The laser peel procedure is considered expensive when compared with other methods of skin resurfacing and rejuvenation.

  • Противопоказания

You can not resort to this procedure without first familiarizing yourself with a number of contraindications:

  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • oncological diseases;
  • epilepsy;
  • chronic diseases and diabetes;
  • inflammatory processes and temperature;
  • blood diseases;
  • the presence of a pacemaker.

How is the laser peel procedure performed?

This procedure can be done only after examination and consultation with a doctor. The duration of one session is from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the volume and complexity of the work. When choosing a salon or clinic for laser peeling, you should immediately clarify the quality and modernity of the equipment. The newer the laser machine, the more successful the result.

Preparatory stage

Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to prepare the skin. About two weeks before laser peeling, you should refrain from going to the solarium and the beach. And immediately three days before the start of the procedure, you can not steam your face, it is better to refuse to visit baths and saunas. At the discretion of your doctor, you may decide to take antibiotics if you are talking about a deeper effect of the laser.

Performing peeling

Before the procedure, the skin is cleansed with a soft gel, toned with a soothing lotion, so that your face will be even better prepared for the even perception of laser beams.

To reduce unpleasant risks to zero, anesthesia is given before using the laser device. An anesthetic cream is applied to all necessary areas in an even layer. After 20-30 minutes, the cream is washed off the face and the skin is treated with lotion again.

Before the start of exposure to the laser device, the patient is put on goggles to protect the eyes. During the procedure, the laser beam acts on problem areas and they receive thermal damage of the required degree. The process of epithelialization of the skin starts immediately. The depth of laser peeling depends on the number of passes in one place. Such a layer-by-layer removal of the epidermis leads to an even skin relief.

At the final stage, a soothing and moisturizing cream is applied or separate lotions are made.

Rehabilitation period

After the laser peeling procedure, special care will be required. You can get exact recommendations from a beautician. Preparations for speedy healing can be antimicrobial ointments or gels. The duration of the rehabilitation period depends primarily on the individual characteristics of the patient’s skin. The resulting new skin remains thin and vulnerable for some time, so you need to protect it from the sun’s rays with a cream with a high SPF.

It is necessary to prepare for the fact that the procedure has certain consequences – for example, a relatively long healing process, accompanied by some discomfort. However, such temporary inconvenience fully pays off at the finish line, thanks to the results of the procedure.

If necessary, the effect of laser peeling can be fixed with a number of additional procedures: mesotherapy, plasmolifting or ozone therapy.

How many times do you have to do

Laser peeling is carried out in a course of 2 to 8 procedures with the required interval of 1-2 months.

How much does it cost?

To determine the cost of one laser peeling procedure, it is necessary to take into account the level of the selected salon, the number of problem areas and additional funds that no procedure can do without: anesthetic cream, restoring gel.

On average, the cost of laser peeling is from 6 to 000 rubles.

Where is held

Laser peeling can only be carried out in a professional salon. Only a specialist is able to correctly distribute the impact of the device, while strictly controlling the depth of penetration of the rays. In this case, the procedure eliminates all undesirable risks: the appearance of age spots, scars.

Can it be done at home

At home, the procedure is absolutely impossible to do. This peeling is carried out only by a qualified cosmetologist using modern laser equipment.

Reviews of specialists about laser peeling

Kristina Arnaudova, dermatovenereologist, cosmetologist, researcher:

— Thanks to the introduction of physiotherapeutic methods into the practice of cosmetologists, I increasingly resort to solving aesthetic problems with the help of various modern non-injection methods, namely hardware ones.

Of particular relevance at the moment, has a method of laser exposure to the skin. Laser peeling is a procedure that affects the upper layers of the epidermis, which is actually similar to chemical peeling. This procedure is carried out on a specialized apparatus strictly under the supervision of a specialist. In my work, I successfully use this method to combat aesthetic defects: superficial wrinkles, hyper and hypopigmentation, scars, stretch marks and post-acne. In addition, I always recommend this look to patients who want to give the skin radiance and improve complexion. Providing a therapeutic or rejuvenating effect, the laser beam does not affect the muscles, lymph nodes and other vital systems and organs. It has a bactericidal effect instantly soldering blood vessels.

As a rule, this procedure is recommended for patients over the age of 25 years. Often, women who come to this type of peeling for the first time are afraid of the procedure because of the name, they get the impression that the skin will be burned with a laser sword. However, do not worry, the procedure is absolutely safe, relatively painless and, if carried out correctly, the rehabilitation period takes no more than 5-7 days.

Do not confuse laser peeling with laser resurfacing or nanoperforation, as this method has a softer and more gentle effect. During a period of high solar activity, this procedure should be avoided, and during the rehabilitation period it is imperative to use sunscreen. Contraindications to laser peeling, like any other, are pregnancy, lactation, herpes and inflammatory elements, a tendency to keloids (scars).
