Black face mask for blackheads
If you are tired of fighting against blackheads, then you should definitely try a black face mask at least once. We tell in detail why it is called so and what type of skin it is suitable for.

Why you need a black face mask

The black mask owes its intriguing color to certain components in the composition. Manufacturers have invested the meaning of skin cleansing based on a contrasting black pigment contained in black clay, charcoal or therapeutic mud.

Often, black face masks are produced specifically to combat blackheads and they look different. When applied, the mask is applied to the problematic part of the skin. After the required time has elapsed, the mask is removed. In addition to thorough cleansing of the skin, a black mask can remove micro-inflammations, refresh the complexion, and give a matting effect.

How to make a black face mask at home

Options for a black face mask are presented in cosmetic stores, but you can cook it yourself and at home.

The main difference between black masks is their consistency. The key components that provide the mask with a black color and have cleansing properties:

Black clay – depending on the place of production, its dark shade may be different. At the same time, it narrows the pores, normalizes the work of the sebaceous glands, and gives an anti-inflammatory effect.

Charcoal is an effective adsorbent and detox classic, therefore it easily removes impurities and prevents rashes.

Therapeutic mud – the most plastic and easily washed off from the skin version of the mask. Unlike the previous components, it includes beneficial microorganisms. It is able to stimulate the formation of collagen, regenerate the skin and act as an antiseptic.

In order for a black face mask prepared at home to meet your expectations and not negatively affect your skin, follow these recommendations before use:

  • Test prepared mixtures for an allergic reaction. Pre-apply the finished composition on the wrist with a thin layer, rinse with water after 10 minutes. If in this area the skin remains unchanged, while there is no feeling of itching or burning, then the composition can be safely applied to the face;
  • Apply the prepared composition only on previously cleansed skin of the face, while avoiding the area around the eyes and lips;
  • Leave the mask on your face for no more than 5-10 minutes. In case of overexposure of the mask on the face, it can harden strongly and tear it off will be very painful;
  • The mask or its remnants (in the case of a film mask) must be washed off with warm water, while you can use an additional sponge;
  • Blot your face with a clean napkin and wipe with a tonic to restore the acid-base balance;
  • The procedure ends with the application of a moisturizing face cream.

To create a black mask, purchase the necessary ingredients in a pharmacy: activated charcoal, therapeutic mud, cosmetic clay.

There are different variations in the preparation of black masks – from the classic to the most unusual: here you need to be guided by imagination and common sense. It is important to remember that all three ingredients are versatile and can be paired with virtually any product or oil. We bring to your attention a few simple but effective recipes:

It is possible to achieve positive results from any black mask, if used correctly. Black masks affect the beauty of the face as follows:

  • affect cells, activate metabolic processes;
  • saturate the cells with useful minerals, while absorbing all the toxins and slags;
  • care for oily and problem skin;
  • pull out black dots;
  • narrow pores;
  • reduce inflammation;
  • soothe irritations and improve complexion;
  • normalize the work of the sebaceous glands, while giving the skin dullness;
  • relieve puffiness;

Harm of a black face mask

  • Not suitable for all skin types

If you are the owner of a sensitive and dry skin type, then the option of skin cleansing with a black mask is not for you. Because dry skin already feels tight, and as a result of cleansing with a black mask, an unpleasant syndrome will develop into pain. In addition, when removing the mask from the face, the skin can get microtrauma.

  • Side effect of dry skin

Any mask based on black clay or charcoal should not be overexposed on the face, otherwise you will get dehydrated skin. Especially this probability increases with homemade masks, because at home it is very difficult to maintain the correct balance of ingredients and concentration.

  • Additional hassle

The black pigment contained in the main component of the mask is able to quickly and permanently stain any surface on which it gets. This is especially true for coal. This problem can be avoided if you purchase a ready-made cosmetic mask.

Reviews of cosmetologists about a black face mask

Kristina Arnaudova, dermatovenereologist, cosmetologist, researcher:

— Black masks are one of the current trends of the year. First of all, this is due to their unusualness and good cleansing for oily or problem skin. The black color of the mask is due to the natural components that contain the pigment of this color. These include the well-known: cosmetic clay, activated charcoal and therapeutic mud. Each of the components has not only one color, but also excellent absorbent properties.

The compositions of ready-made black masks from different manufacturers, as a rule, are additionally enriched with moisturizing ingredients in order to prevent overdrying of the skin. Homemade masks often leave behind an unpleasant feeling of tightness. When preparing them, it is necessary to correctly observe the proportions and not overexpose on the face. Also, do not apply a black mask on the lips and eyes. In these areas, the skin is usually the thinnest and most sensitive, so such a mask will only hurt.

Clay-based masks are quite dense and heavy: when applied, there is no feeling of extraordinary lightness. But such a mask can be safely used in multi-masking: apply exclusively to problem areas of the skin, for example, to the T-zone. And on the rest of the face, you can use a moisturizing or nourishing mask. Activated charcoal-based film masks have fast-setting properties, and at the same time effectively push all impurities out of the skin. But they are often difficult to remove, as they adhere too strongly to the skin. However, despite some disadvantages of black masks, the results pay off with fantastic efficiency.
