Jellyfish chips are tasted in Denmark

In some countries, it is quite common to eat jellyfish. For example, residents of Asian countries consider jellyfish a delicacy on the dinner table. Some types of jellyfish are used to prepare salads, sushi, noodles, main courses and even ice cream.

Desalted, ready-to-use jellyfish, low in calories and no fat, contain about 5% protein and 95% water. They are also used to add flavor to various dishes.

Drew attention to jellyfish in Europe, at least in its northern part – in Denmark. Scientists at the University of Southern Denmark have developed a way to turn jellyfish into something that looks like potato chips.

According to experts, jellyfish chips can be a healthy alternative to the traditional snack, as they are practically free of fat, but the levels of selenium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B12 are extremely high.

The new method is to soak jellyfish in alcohol and then evaporate the ethanol, which makes it possible to turn the slimy shellfish, which is 95% water, into crispy snacks. This process takes only a few days.

Interesting, considering that such snacks can be crunchy without harming the waist.
