Infertility

General description of the disease

Infertility is the impossibility of reproduction by sexual intercourse in people of childbearing age. An infertile couple is considered to be if, during the year, with regular intercourse (at least once a week), without using and taking contraception, pregnancy has not occurred.

Infertility occurs in both women and men. Consider the causes of each.

Causes of female infertility:

  • there are no fallopian or fallopian tubes (or they are impassable);
  • genetic factor;
  • adhesions in the pelvic organs (they can form after undergoing gynecological operations, be the result of various inflammations, due to endometriosis);
  • hormonal (endocrine) disorders;
  • there is no uterus or some pathology of it is present (for example, an adult woman has an underdeveloped uterus and in its parameters it is similar to a child’s);
  • endometriosis;
  • a woman has antibodies to sperm (this is called immunological infertility);
  • sterility of a woman, which can occur with pathologies at the chromosomal level;
  • the psychological factor, the so-called psychological infertility (in which a woman at the psychological level does not want to have children, sometimes unconsciously), manifests itself in the form of various fears (childbirth, weight gain, loss of attractiveness, unwillingness to have a child from a particular man).

Male infertility reasons:

  • sexual disorders (ejaculatory disorders or dysfunction);
  • problems with the genitourinary organs;
  • anatomical pathologies and changes in the genital organs in men (hypospadias, problems with the vas deferens, cystic fibrosis, increased density of secretions, surgical interventions);
  • increased (decreased) testosterone levels, endocrinological diseases (hyperprolactinemia, hypogonadism);
  • heredity;
  • exposure to radiation, chemotherapy, toxins, high temperature;
  • genital trauma;
  • dropsy of the testicles;
  • sexually transmitted diseases, various inflammations;
  • there is no sperm (sperm) or there is, but in a small amount;
  • a low number of moving sperm and an increased number of abnormal sperm;
  • leukocytes in semen in a larger amount from the norm (such violations occur after the transfer of inflammatory processes).

The common causes of infertility include overweight of both representatives (fatty deposits press on the genitourinary organs and, as a consequence, various problems with them) or, conversely, excessive thinness (women begin to have problems with the menstrual cycle, all organs dry out, in men, activity decreases sperm).

Another important cause of infertility is partner incompatibility. It is observed in 5-7% of couples who have children with other “second halves”, and very soon after parting with their former loved ones. This is the cause of infertility of unknown origin.

Also, infertility can be combined (both partners suffer from this disease), combined (a woman / man has several factors or causes of infertility, for example, one woman has obstructed tubes and endometriosis). Infertility is also primary (a woman has never become pregnant) and secondary (occurs after the birth of one or several children under the influence of various factors or malfunctions in the body, this diagnosis is also made if a woman is pregnant, but did not give birth for any reason, for example, it happened miscarriage).

Infertility is not a sentence or doom, it can be temporary, especially since every day the technologies and methods of treating the disease are improving.

Useful foods for infertility

Nutrition plays an important role in combating this problem. It should be complete, fractional and healthy.

  • Men it is worth consuming more fructose (it helps sperm to mature). Its source is well served: oranges, sweet apples (especially yellow ones), grapefruits, chocolate, lemons.

Sea products will make them more active: especially crab meat, squid, shrimp (they are rich in zinc, molybdenum, selenium).

Copper, a source of which is a variety of wild berries, will help improve the quality of the sperm. The same property is possessed by: seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame), nuts (especially cashews and pistachios), legumes.

Tomatoes are useful (they are rich in lycopene, which removes inflammation and increases sperm concentration).

Do not forget about the role of protein in a man’s body. Brazilian scientists believe that caffeine helps to activate sperm.

  • For women useful substances are needed such as: phosphorus, which helps to ripen the egg (the largest amount is found in fatty sea fish), vitamin U (white cabbage in any form stimulates uterine activity and helps restore menstruation and improve their course), vitamin C, E , B, magnesium (nuts, seeds, brown rice, oatmeal, citrus fruits, bran bread, beans).
  • Both sexes worth eating: dried fruits, dairy products (preferably homemade), more vegetables and fruits, salad dressing made from sunflower, linseed, pumpkin, corn, sesame oils, eating non-fatty meats, dried fruits (especially figs, dried apricots, prunes, dates, etc.) raisins), replace sugar with honey, drink juices and compotes, wheat germ, all herbs and spices (basil, saffron, thyme, anise, ginger, anise).
