II National Gastronomy Contest

Within the activities program of the next Castilla y León Food Fair, the 2015 National Gastronomy Contest will be held.

Over two days, on May 5 and 6, the second edition of the National Gastronomy Contest, reference event for the country’s chefs, organized by the Federation of chefs and pastry chefs of Spain (FACYRE) and the Valladolid City Council, which also hosts and sponsors the Food Fair.

The objective of the contest is to select the National Gastronomy Team, which will represent us at the World Gastronomic Games next year.

Within the demarcations where the contestants are assigned, in order to become part of that starting team, the positions of:

  • Chef
  • Pastry chef
  • Sommelier
  • Maître
  • Cocktail shaker

Professionals from all over the country have already signed up for the gastronomic event that, during the first days, will be aspiring to be part of the definitive team.

On May 5 and 6, the tests will be carried out at Cooks aspirants, where they will do their best to prepare a fish dish and a meat dish.

Each filtering bag pastry chefs will come into play on May 6 and must create an artistic piece of chocolate and sugar, as well as one with coffee as the main ingredient.

Each filtering bag masters for their part, they must deal with different tests to demonstrate their writing skills, languages, errors at the table, preparation in front of the client and product offering.

Each filtering bag sommeliersThey must strive to recognize the wines and identify them as well as the service and uncorking.

Finally, the mixologistsThey must identify different alcoholic beverages, and prepare a “short” based on liquor and build a sales pitch for it.
