Ideomotor training

Once this method was known only to sports psychology – it was used to improve their sports achievements, but over time, ordinary people began to use it as well. So what is its essence?

“Ideo” – thought, “motor skills” – movement. These designations speak for themselves – mental movement. This method consists in the fact that you do physical education, but only mentally, imagine in your head a variety of movements, their ideal execution. This kind of training is good for people who have had a stroke or serious injury.

 

Famous athletes share a secret that they worked out each exercise for 40 minutes. And this is only mentally! You and I will need a little more effort for this.

If you decide, for example, to sit on a twine. First, you first need to watch the necessary training video of how the coach does it. After that, take time for ideomotor training – take the starting position and mentally imagine the entire course of your own training. If an exercise from a workout is repeated many times, then after a while the muscles themselves will contract and perform this element.

Sometimes ideomotor training is compared with auto-training, because it also helps to have fear of public speaking, eliminate fear and negative emotions.

Ideomotor training has many different benefits. By training, you increase your concentration, become confident in your own strengths and actions. Also, using this method, you can relieve pain and fatigue and tune in exclusively to a positive result.

 

How right?

Ideomotor skills can be used not only before physical training, but also after. Once you are done with your exercises, lie on your back, relax, and mentally visualize all the elements and their sequence.

Of course, not everything is as perfect as it would seem at first glance. First, devote 5 minutes to ideomotor classes, and then move on to longer ones.

 

To understand how this method of self-hypnosis suits you, you can do the following exercise. Take 1 meter of thread and a small weight – 10 grams. If you are right-handed, wind the thread around the finger of your right hand, otherwise, wind the thread around the finger of your left hand. Stretch your hand out in front of you, thinking that you are swinging the thread. How intensively the weight swings can be judged on the strength of the “brain-body” connection.

 

Do not think that ideomotor training is your win-win ticket on the way to a perfect figure or to mastering some kind of sport. In all cases, this is only a psychological setting, and in order for the result to be maximum, you need to train a lot physically.
