PSYchology

Building your values into a definite and self-clear hierarchy is a special task and not an easy one for everyone. However, everything is real, and we will offer you the following steps for this.

Step one:

Learn to prioritize

To master this skill, we will offer you an exercise similar to a game. To do this, you will need to make cards like playing cards: nine cards. Each card is one of the main life values. With the help of these cards, you will make a ranking of your life values, you will compare values with each other in order to understand what is more important to you and what is not so significant.

Everyday situation: a woman can stay at work and earn the praise of her superiors, money and career prospects. Or maybe go home, where her beloved is already waiting for her and spend the evening with him. What is more important to her? In different ways, oh, in different ways you can answer …

The additional, more hidden purpose of this first round is to help you learn to define your choices. Sometimes choices are really difficult, and many people find it difficult to make any choice at all.

Tea or coffee? To the cinema or to the park? Technical or humanitarian institute? Yes or no?

When a person has learned to make choices, to make decisions clearly and definitely, his life becomes easier and more interesting. Let’s start.

Step 1. Free up space in front of you. It is best to play at a table where you can freely lay out nine cards.

Step 2. Shuffle the cards. Shuffle them carefully and stack them in a pile. Take a deep breath and you can begin.

Step 3. Take two cards from the top of the deck. Put them in front of you — which of these two values is more important to you? Take your time with the choice, weigh everything carefully.

What is more important — to watch an interesting movie now (Entertainment and Recreation card) or to get enough sleep before tomorrow’s report (Education card)? Get out of the house (card Home, comfort, money) — or go to the Distance, engage in your development? Don’t rush to make a choice — the more you think, the more you understand your values and priorities.

Have you chosen? Place the chosen card face up. And put the second card aside, you won’t need it for now.

Step 4. Take the next two cards from the deck. Compare them to each other.

The principle is exactly the same — what you think is more important. Chose — less important value to the side, more important — «face» up.

You now have two cards that are face up. It’s time to compare them.

Step 5 Compare the two cards. You have two value cards that are face up. Compare them. What is more important to you? What value lies more on the soul? When you have chosen, put the less important value aside. And the selected card remains lying on the table «face» up.

Then repeat. Take two cards, choose the most important of these two, put it on top, compare with the one that was on top before, take two cards again. And so — until the last card, until the deck runs out. As a result, only one card remains. On it is your main value for today.

This concludes the first step of our exercise. Questions for you: How satisfied are you with its results? Was it easy for you to make decisions? In which elections did you find it difficult? Will you continue to reflect on these elections? What made you happy?

Try again. Shuffle the deck and go through the learned route again. Compare the values again. — What for? — Because only repeated repetition of the first round (five or six times) allows you to really understand your values well, set priorities between them, see the connections. After each game, ask yourself — how do I evaluate the results? Was it easy to decide? Were there any choices that were difficult? What made me happy?

Played five more times?

Most likely, at the top you had the same card. This is your main value today.

Sometimes two cards alternate at the top, for example, «My business, my projects» and «Family, relationships, business.» This means that a person is at a crossroads and chooses what is really important to him. Two or three more games — and he will realize everything, make a choice.

There is? – congratulations!

Addition

Answer the question for yourself: one way or another, laying out the cards, did you mean what period of time? Next month or next year? Next week or life in general?

No matter how you answer, you did everything right. Just now repeat the first round, keeping in mind a different period of time, a different life perspective.

If you used to think about life and purpose, now think about the values of the coming month. What is more important now: going to the doctors or studying closely?

If you’ve been playing and thinking about your next business, now think about life in general. Looking at your life as a whole, will you appreciate the thrill of your love adventures more, or what kind of family will you have?

Done? Very well. Ahead is the second step of our exercise, the step is interesting and difficult.

Unified map of values

The second step is your creation of a Unified Map of your values. You will combine your different decisions into one whole, so that as a result your entire Value System can be covered in one glance. And as a result, having analyzed the resulting System, draw the necessary conclusions.

We recommend that you go in order — do not rush, do not move on to the second step until you have completed the first. The second round is more difficult, and if you do not understand your values in the first round, you will get confused in the second. In addition, playing the first step is so exciting, reflective, and discoverable that many even carry the second step into the next day or beyond. Total: first the first step, then the second.
