How to make crab stick salad

Surprisingly, but a fact – some quarter of a century ago, we did not know what it was – crab sticks. And today’s teenagers can easily replace dinner with a package of crab sticks, eating them with a cucumber or tomato. In fact, they are absolutely right, and we are used to it – salad! And so – with mayonnaise!

 

The inexhaustible imagination of chefs and housewives gave us many recipes for different salads with crab sticks – for every taste and occasion. There are festive puff salads and light, prepared in a few minutes options with vegetables and herbs. Deliberately, none of our recipes contains salt, mayonnaise and crab sticks have a rather rich taste, salt will contribute to the “flaking” of the salad and change the taste.

The main ingredient, crab sticks, are made from surimi, a natural product made from white fish fillets. Apparently, at the beginning of its history of the triumphant conquest of world tastes, sticks were really made from crab meat, but this is too expensive a pleasure. The main requirement for crab sticks is their freshness. If, already in the package, the sticks have a categorically unpresentable look – they fall apart, the upper bright layer lives its own life – let them stay where they were, they are not suitable for salad. And for any food – too. Choose a non-frozen food. Take care of yourself.

 

Crab stick salad – a favorite classic

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Dry rice – 150 gr.
  • Canned sweet corn – 1 can
  • Egg – 4 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise – 150-200 gr.
  • Ground black pepper – to taste.

Boil the rice and eggs, rinse the rice, peel and cut the eggs arbitrarily – into cubes or thin strips. Depending on your mood, cut the crab sticks, drain the liquid from the corn, place all the ingredients in a container convenient for mixing, season with mayonnaise, pepper, mix thoroughly and let it brew a little.

The salad is considered “winter”, to cheer it up, many add finely chopped green onions or dill. Another “unconventional” ingredient is pickled cucumbers, try it.

Salad with crab sticks and vegetables

 

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Iceberg lettuce – 1/2 pc.
  • Tomato – 2 pcs.
  • Cucumber – 2 pcs.
  • Sweet pepper – 1 pc.
  • Canned sweet corn – 1 can
  • Pepper mix to taste
  • Mayonnaise – 150 gr.

Salad, coarsely chop the vegetables, cut the crab sticks diagonally not very thinly, drain the juice from the corn and add to the salad. It is better to choose light mayonnaise, season the salad and mix gently, trying not to crush the food too much. Grind pepper on top and serve immediately.

In this version of the salad, you can add olives, chili peppers, take cherry or yellow tomatoes, replace the salad with young white cabbage, fantasize.

 

Cheese salad with crab sticks

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Egg – 3 pcs.
  • Hard cheese – 100 gr.
  • Mayonnaise – 100-150 gr.

Choose slightly dry crab sticks, put in the freezer for 10 minutes and grate on a medium grater, set aside 1/4. Grate boiled eggs and cheese on a grater of the same size, mix with crab sticks and season with mayonnaise. With hands moistened with water or a tablespoon, form small balls, roll on all sides in chopped crab sticks and put to serve. Another option is to serve the salad on toasted bread slices with fresh cucumber and lettuce.

 

Puff crab stick salad with apple

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Egg – 3 pcs.
  • Apple – 1 pcs.
  • Hard cheese – 100 gr.
  • Mayonnaise – 150 gr.

Boil the eggs, rub the whites into a flat plate in an even layer and coat with mayonnaise. Finely chop the crab sticks, lay in the second tier, on top – an apple grated on a coarse grater, coat with mayonnaise. The next layer is grated cheese and mayonnaise. Sprinkle the top and sides of the lettuce with finely grated yolks. Leave for an hour and a half in the refrigerator, serve.

 

Salad with crab sticks and oranges

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Egg – 4 pcs.
  • Canned sweet corn – 1 can
  • Orange – 1 pcs.
  • Garlic – 1 wedge
  • Mayonnaise – 150-200 gr.

Chop randomly boiled eggs and crab sticks. Drain the liquid from the corn, peel the orange and remove thin films, cut each slice into 4-5 pieces, do not grind. Grate the garlic on a fine grater or chop with a press. Gently mix all products, season with mayonnaise. Serve in a clear salad bowl or in halved oranges from which the pulp has been removed.

 

The format of the article does not allow to cite the huge number of salad recipes that are known to date. It must be remembered that in many recipes, crab sticks completely replace shrimp, go well with avocado, grapefruit and mushrooms. Seasonally add greens or red onions to vegetable salad. You can often find options with the addition of croutons or croutons.

Olivier salad with crab sticks

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 gr.
  • Egg – 4 pcs.
  • Cucumber – 2 pcs.
  • Pickled cucumbers – 200 gr.
  • Peas – 1 can
  • Peking cabbage / iceberg lettuce – 1/2 pc.
  • Mix of peppers, mustard – to taste
  • Mayonnaise – 200 gr.

Salad chip – we replace potatoes with salad, and meat or chicken – with crab sticks. Cut boiled eggs, cucumbers of two types and crab sticks about the same, cabbage – a little larger, put the peas, grind the pepper mixture on top, season with mayonnaise (you can mix with mustard), mix gently and serve immediately.
