How to give up tasteless food and not offend the hostess

Even ordinary borscht turns out differently for every housewife. Needless to say about the generously set table. But not all food is to our taste, and it is considered bad form to refuse food. What etiquette advises about this?

Poorly cooked

If you are invited to visit the hostess, who is famous for her inability to cook, the simplest thing is to agree on a joint table setting. This practice is widespread in Europe. Bring salads and snacks with you and eat them all evening, modestly placing your host’s dish on the edge of your plate.

Not your type

If you follow proper nutrition or simply do not use certain ingredients, and your beloved grandmother still strives to treat you deliciously, just create the illusion of a full plate. Give yourself a generous supply of all the dishes on offer, more of what you will eat, less of what you will not touch. Keeping track of what exactly is in your spoon every time is quite difficult.

Unappetizing to look at

In unfamiliar companies, it is difficult to understand what the hostess is capable of. Perhaps even the most unappetizing dishes are delicious, and a sense of tact dictates that you definitely try them. In this case, you need to try, because it may turn out to be quite edible. If the dish contains ingredients that turn you off, you can refer to allergies or feeling unwell, but you still have to fill the plate with something – what attracts you.

Unacceptable alcohol

People who do not want to drink alcohol have to constantly make excuses for it. In this case, the previous methods do not work. And in order not to go into the details of the refusal, think over the reason in advance – a hard working day tomorrow or an argument with a friend. Take care in advance about what you will drink at the table, bring mineral water or juice with you. The hostess cannot have a drink of your choice and she will be uncomfortable for her inhospitableness.
