How to diagnose oncology in the early stages

Every year in Russia, about 500 thousand cancer patients are diagnosed, and only 48% of diseases are detected in the early stages, since people are often afraid to go to doctors. 23% of oncological diseases are detected at the third stage, 29% – already at the fourth stage. Do not forget that with early diagnosis, recovery after treatment approaches 98%.

The Voronezh Regional Clinical Consultative and Diagnostic Center (VOKKDC) has a number of methods for detecting cancer at the earliest stages (in the asymptomatic period). Serious research is being carried out to identify diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, to which the majority of urban residents are susceptible. The reason for this is ecology, bad habits, improper lifestyle, constant stress, dieting or overeating, taking medications, etc. Therefore, by the age of 30, every fourth person suffers from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

The gold standard in the diagnosis of intestinal and stomach cancer is endoscopic methods – examination and assessment of the condition of the inner surface of the gastrointestinal tract using a thin flexible tube – an endoscope.

Types of diagnostic examinations

  • COLONOSCOPY – a diagnostic procedure in which the doctor assesses the condition of the colon surface using a colonoscope for early detection of polyps, tumors and other neoplasms.
  • FGS – examination, with the help of which it is possible to examine the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum for early detection of erosive and ulcerative processes and exclusion of possible oncology.

Often, patients do not do these examinations on time due to fear of pain. But in VOKKDTS colonoscopy and FGS can be performed under general intravenous anesthesia. The patient is put into a state of deep sleep with the help of modern drugs that do not leave discomfort after the procedure.

Before carrying out endoscopic examinations under anesthesia, a small preliminary examination is necessary: a general blood test, an electrocardiogram, a consultation with an anesthesiologist.

In the Voronezh Regional Diagnostic Center, colonoscopy and FGS can be performed UNDER GENERAL INTRAVENOUS ANALYSIS (in a dream)

During endoscopic examinations, if indicated, the doctor may take tissue samples (biopsy) for additional analysis. BIOPSY is an obligatory method of confirming the diagnosis in case of suspicion of the presence of oncological diseases, especially in the case of detection of polyps – neoplasms growing on the mucous membrane. Treatment of polyps involves their radical removal by surgical manipulation – POLYPECTOMY. In VOKKDTS manipulation is carried out on modern equipment by experienced endoscopist doctors using special instruments.

The Regional Diagnostic Center also carries out VIRTUAL COLONOSCOPY Is a study of the large intestine on a multislice spiral computed tomography (MSCT), which diagnoses tumors, abnormalities of the location and development of the colon. The procedure does not require anesthesia, has a high accuracy and information content, makes it possible to examine those parts of the gastrointestinal tract that are difficult to access during a traditional colonoscopic examination.

Tumor markers play an important role in the diagnosis of malignant neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas. In the laboratory VOKKDTS conduct special high-precision studies with new tumor markers – M2 PYRUVATKINASE AND PANCREATIC CHLASTASE 1 (feces for occult blood).

The test results must be interpreted with caution in conjunction with the results of clinical examination, X-ray and ultrasound studies.
