The best diet to cure swollen ankles

Women retain more fluid than men. Normal !!! we are made up of more water than you gentlemen. Let’s be careful what we eat.

Foods to consume

I generally recommend fruits and vegetables (2). You must in addition:

  • To drink a lot of water : I used to wonder why drink a lot of water when I have edema. My doctor’s response was simple and meaningful.

In fact, the more water we drink, the better our body cleans accumulated impurities. For a person who consumes too much salt, not drinking water will store the salt in their body. On the contrary, if she drinks a lot, the body will drain this excess salt in the form of urine.

This allows it to be purified. So drinking plenty of water is extremely important to cleanse our body. Especially in cases of water retention.

  • Take magnesium as a dietary supplement. Magnesium deficiencies in our body can lead to edema. That is why it is advisable to take 200mg of magnesium twice a day. If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor first.
  • You can mix in squeezed lemon or cucumber juice extract to your glass of water. Indeed, thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of cucumber and lemon, your ankles will be able to deflate easily.
  • Green clay : As much as it helps you against stomach bloating, it can also help relieve your ankle. Mix 2 tablespoons of green clay in a little water to make a paste. Spread over the foot in question. Let it dry for at least two hours. In fact, the dried clay absorbs the excess fluid in our feet through the pores.
  • Drink phyto cleanser 32 (3)

Get into sport

Yoga to remedy fluid retention

Remember, yoga is a gentle sport that works on physical, spiritual, metabolic well-being. It allows you to focus on your “chakras” sources of energy, linked to your circulatory system. Do yoga (5) because your swollen feet can hide poor blood circulation. This is why I recommend these different yoga postures to help you remedy it.

Swimming, a necessary sport for swollen ankles

In addition to the water pressure which acts positively on us, our calves are exercised during swimming. However, the contraction of the calf muscles during swimming allows blood to circulate naturally from the feet to the heart (6)

Other exercises for swollen ankles

I recommend exercises that promote the concentration of the calves. For example the calf extension (7) Stand up with your body straight. Then put your toes on a block of about 10 cm. Your toes should be stretched out in front of you. This way, your heels are lower than your toes. Next, stretch upward so that pressure is placed on your calves.

Take foot baths

1) Scottish foot baths:

some doctors will strongly recommend them to you. They consist of immersing your swollen ankles in hot water (not too hot anyway. You don’t think you will boil them…) for 30 to 40 seconds, then immerse them in a basin of cold water.

Repeat the exercise for about 5 minutes. I advise you after these Scottish baths to dry your feet and massage them lightly with a few drops (no more than XNUMX) of camphor essential oil.

2) Foot baths in lukewarm salt water

Massage regularly with grapefruit essential oil: Pour 2 teaspoons of grapefruit essential oil into your lukewarm bath. Immerse yourself in it, relax for several minutes.

If the bath is not on the schedule, just soak your feet in a container of lukewarm water combined with a few drops of grapefruit oil. After soaking them, gently massage your poor ankles with a few drops of this same essential oil.

So for this massage, pour dear reader 4 drops of grapefruit oils, 3 drops of olive oil. Mix well and massage in a circular shape deeply and gently your poor ankle. Massage by pressing the ankle upwards for best results.

3) Magnesium sulfate foot baths

Since the swelling of the feet is due to magnesium deficiency, it is advisable to soak your feet in magnesium sulfate. Take 3 tablespoons of sulfate and dilute it in about a liter of lukewarm water. Soak your swollen ankles in it for about 20 minutes. Repeat this gesture twice a day for a few days.

Hygiene measures to avoid swollen ankles

1) Avoid high heels and shoes that are too narrow. Opt more for comfortable, balanced shoes

2) While sitting or lying down, put your feet up on a support. At the office, get into the habit of putting your feet up on a stool

Some specialists will suggest that you wear elastic stockings to prevent swelling. But, I do not agree, because if at the beginning it can relieve you, a few hours later, you have to face the cramps. You don’t solve one problem by creating another.

Conclusion

You will succeed in preventing your ankle swelling through a healthy and balanced diet, regular foot baths and exercise.
