How to cook pork knuckle

For beer and aromatic pork lovers, there is no secret in how to cook a pork knuckle. Juicy meat, saturated with fat, fragrant with spices and delicious in taste, can be prepared by any happy owner of a fresh large shank, or, as it is also called, shanks. Consider several options for baking pork shank, as well as other recipes, to cook pork shank at home was not a problem.

 

Baked pork knuckle

Ingredients:

 
  • Pork knuckle – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 1 pieces.
  • Onions – 1 pc.
  • Sunflower oil – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Mustard – 2 tbsp. l.
  • Honey – 2 tbsp. l.
  • Bay leaf – 2 pcs.
  • Cloves – 3-4 pcs.
  • Black pepper – 6-7 peas
  • Salt, pork seasoning – to taste.

As a rule, the pork shank is sold already well cleaned, but if there are bristles on the skin, rinse the shank thoroughly and set the excess “vegetation” on fire. After that, scrape the skin with a knife, rinse it again and put the shank in a saucepan so that it can lie there. Pour over water, bring to a boil, cook for an hour over medium heat. Add coarsely chopped onions and carrots, salt and spices. Cook for 40 minutes. Mix honey, mustard and pork seasoning, generously coat the shank removed from the broth. Leave for 20 minutes, then transfer to a greased baking dish and send to an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 40-55 minutes, depending on the size of the shank. During baking, pour the pork knuckle with the released juice 3-4 times. Serve with stewed cabbage, boiled potatoes.

Pork knuckle baked in foil or sleeve

Ingredients:

  • Pork knuckle – 1 pc.
  • Garlic – 3-4 teeth.
  • Mustard – 2 tbsp. l.
  • Salt, pork seasoning – to taste.

Pour shank with peeled skin with cold water for 20 minutes, rinse and dry a little. Mix the mustard, chopped garlic, salt and seasoning, coat the pork knuckle with the mixture and leave for an hour or two. Place the pickled knuckle in a baking sleeve or wrap it tightly with foil, send it to an oven preheated to 190 degrees for two hours. Pork shank is good both hot and cold with horseradish and mustard.

Pork knuckle baked in beer

 

Ingredients:

  • Pork knuckle – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 1 pieces.
  • Onions – 1 pc.
  • Bay leaf – 2 pcs.
  • Black pepper – 5 peas
  • Dark beer – bottle + 100 gr.
  • Honey – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Soy Sauce – 1 Art. l
  • Mustard – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Salt – to taste.

Pour the washed shank with a bottle of dark beer, top up with water so that the meat is completely covered with liquid, add a whole onion, carrots cut in half, spices and a little salt. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for 2 hours. Combine soy sauce, beer, honey and mustard. Remove the shank from the pan, drain the liquid, make several cross cuts in the skin and place in a deep baking dish. Pour the sauce to the shank, send to the oven, preheated to 180 degrees for 40-50 minutes, pour over the sauce several times.
