How to beat your junk food addiction

We are all food addicts. And our dependence, unfortunately, is not on carrots and cabbage, but on sweet, flour, fatty foods … From all those products that make us sick with regular use. For example, this XNUMX-minute video clearly explains how we get addicted to sugar. The most conscientious of us strive to get rid of these addictions, but it is not very easy.

I hope these three ways will make it easier for you to fight bad eating habits:

1. Balance Your Blood Sugar Levels… If you feel hungry between meals, this is a sign that your blood sugar is dropping. When it is low, you will eat everything. To balance your sugar levels, snack every 3-4 hours on something that contains healthy protein, such as seeds or nuts. I wrote a separate post about healthy snacks.

2. Eliminate liquid calories and artificial sweeteners… Sugary drinks are full of chemicals and sweeteners. Processed fruit juices are just liquid sugar. Try to drink only water, green or herbal tea, freshly squeezed vegetable juices. Green tea contains substances that are beneficial to health. And don’t fall into the trap of drinking diet drinks. The artificial sweeteners they contain trick our bodies into thinking they are consuming sugar, and this triggers the same insulin release as regular sugar.

3. Eat Healthy Protein… Ideally, every meal should contain quality protein. Studies show that by regularly eating healthy proteins such as eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes, and protein-rich grains, we lose weight, stop experiencing food cravings, and burn calories. If you eat animal foods, choose whole foods (not canned food, sausages, and similar processed foods) and preferably quality meat and fish.

Ever since I decided to control the amount of processed, refined and sugary foods in my diet, these three rules have helped me a lot. And the result was not long in coming. The cravings for unhealthy food have all but disappeared. Except for the days when I didn’t get enough sleep, but that’s another story.
