How to cook carrots in a saucepan

You will need – carrots, water

 
  • Wash the carrots under warm water, trying to remove dirt as much as possible.
  • Put the carrots in a saucepan (if they do not fit, you can cut the carrots in half), add water so that the carrots are completely in the water.
  • Put the pan on fire, cover with a lid.
  • Cook the carrots for 20-30 minutes, depending on the size and variety.

  • Drain the water, put the carrots in a colander and cool slightly.
  • Gently holding the carrots in front of you, peel off the skin – it comes off quite easily with the slightest help of a knife.

In a double boiler – 40 minutes

1. Peel the carrots or, if they are young, rub with the hard side of a sponge and rinse with water.

2. Place the carrots on the steamer wire rack, making sure there is water in the lower compartment.

3. Turn on the steamer, detect 30 minutes and wait until the end of cooking. If carrots are cut into pieces, cook for 20 minutes.

4. Check steamed carrots for readiness by piercing them through with a fork in the widest part of the vegetable. If the fork passes easily, then the carrots are cooked.

5. Cool carrots slightly, peel and use in dishes.

In a slow cooker – 30 minutes

1. Wash carrots and put in a slow cooker.

2. Pour cold water over the carrots, set the “Cooking” mode on the multicooker and cook for 30 minutes with the lid closed; or place a container for steaming and simmer for 40 minutes.

In the microwave – 5-7 minutes

1. For cooking, prepare 3-4 medium-sized carrots (boiling too little carrots can burn the product), or boil potatoes or cauliflower with the carrots – vegetables that keep the same amount in the microwave.

2. Make deep punctures with a knife – 3-4 along the entire length of the carrot.

3. Place the carrots in a microwave safe dish and cover.

4. Set the microwave to 800-1000 W, cook medium-sized carrots for 5 minutes, large carrots – 7 minutes, at 800 W for a couple of minutes longer, carrot slices at 800 W for 4 minutes with the addition of 5 tablespoons of water. Then peel the finished carrots.

Note: When boiling in the microwave, carrots become shriveled and slightly dry. To prevent moisture from evaporating, you can use baking bags or reusable vegetable steam bags.

In a pressure cooker – 5 minutes

It is not recommended to cook carrots in a pressure cooker, as carrots can be boiled and it turns out even longer in time: you need to wait for steam to escape in order to open the pressure cooker. However, if you still had to use a pressure cooker, cook the carrots in it for 5 minutes.
