If you are not going to store celery for a long time, knowing that you will consume it within a few days, you do not need to worry about how to store it properly. Just store it at room temperature and eat it for the first 4 days.

In a refrigerator

Shelf life: 2-4 weeks

At a temperature of 1-3 degrees Celsius, celery roots can retain their beneficial properties for up to several weeks. Simply wrap Root Celery in plastic wrap and place in the bottom of the refrigerator.

In sand

Shelf life: 3-6 months

There are several ways to store root celery in sand:

  1. Pour fine sand into a deep container and stick the roots into it in an upright position so that the sand completely covers the plant, then take the celery storage containers to a dark and cool basement where the temperature will not exceed 12 degrees Celsius.
  2. Arrange the celery in plastic bags or wooden tight boxes and press the roots together, then cover them with a layer of sand 2 centimeters on top and place them in the cellar, provided that the temperature is not higher than 1-2 degrees Celsius.

Celery preserves its beneficial properties even when dry. There are 2 ways to store dried root celery:

1 method:

  1. Peel the root vegetable;
  2. Cut the plant into strips or across;
  3. Dry in the sun or in a warm, ventilated room;
  4. Place the roots in a glass container with a tight lid for storage.

2 method:

  1. Peel the plant;
  2. Grind the roots with a large grater;
  3. Place the grated root vegetables in bags and put in the freezer for storage.

Shelf life: 2 days

Celery greens can be salted, because salt resists plant decay:

  1. Fill a glass jar with herbs and add salt at the rate of 100 g of salt to 5000 g of celery.
  2. Screw the lid back on and let it brew for two days.

In a refrigerator

Shelf life: 10 days

Immediately after you got the celery greens from the garden or bought it in the store, you need to:

  1. Thoroughly rinse each leaf of the plant with water;
  2. Spread celery on cheesecloth or other absorbent cloth to dry;
  3. Be sure to wrap the dried celery in aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator. Having wrapped the petioles or celery leaves with plastic wrap, they will wither in a few days.

In dry form

Shelf life: 1 month

Celery herb can be kept dry and used as a condiment:

  1. Spread the plant out on a baking sheet;
  2. Cover it with a clean sheet of paper to protect the stalks and leaves from direct sunlight;
  3. Store in a warm place for a month;

In the freezer

Shelf life: 3 months

Petiole and leafy celery will retain the greatest aroma and green color while saving the plant in the freezer in ice cube trays – just cut the celery, put it in molds and send it to be stored in the freezer.
