Hit of the summer: Moroccan style in the interior

5 simple guidelines will help you decorate the interior of a room or a country house in a trendy Moroccan style.

Moroccan style in the interior

1. Colors

For inspiration, we go to the oriental market – counters with vegetables and spices will help present the desired color scheme.

The basis of the Moroccan interior is warm earth tones: ocher, terracotta, beige. In contrast, cobalt blue, emerald green, eggplant, turquoise, muted red. However, the walls can also be white.

An exciting play of oriental colors and ornaments unfolds against the light background of the walls.

2. Walls and floor

We abandon wallpaper in favor of plaster, moreover traditional Moroccan – it is called “tadlakt”. This is a special glossy mineral based plaster that makes the walls look like marble. But the more common one is also suitable – the Venetian.

The lower part of the wall is lined with multi-colored zilish mosaic, which forms a fancy geometric pattern.

If the size of the room and the height of the ceiling allow – provide niches (it is convenient to arrange shelves and cabinets in them), columns and pointed arches, without which no Moroccan interior can do.

The floors are tiled with tiles or stone, but linoleum, imitating tiles, is also suitable.

3. Ceiling

The ceiling in the Moroccan interior is striking in its beauty – the carved wood from above is covered with multi-colored painting.

The top of the wall is usually bordered by a wide carved frieze (decorative strip), echoing the pattern on the ceiling.

A budget option is to use plaster instead of wood, and create a carved volume using stucco.

4. Furniture

Authentic Moroccan furniture – wood, carved, handmade.

Low octagonal tables, squat wardrobes, chests, ebony beds inlaid with mother of pearl, camel bone, decorated with metal overlays.

Carved wooden screens help to divide the space.

Upholstered furniture is upholstered in velvet and decorated with fringes, around the hookah table there are multi-colored leather ottomans.

5. Textiles and accessories

As well as furniture, textiles and accessories, Moroccan interiors bear the stamp of handicraft craftsmanship.

Blown glass lanterns in a metal oklad, oriental carpets, lint-free kilims, bedspreads and pillows embroidered with beads and gold thread, patchwork quilts and brocade curtains.

By the way, if you are decorating a country house in the Moroccan style, it makes sense to think about carved shutters on the windows, decorative wrought iron gratings, a four-poster bed and even a fountain.
