Grapefruit – how to get rid of bitterness

Grapefruit is a very healthy fruit. And we have previously told our readers about three main reasons for eating it every day.

Nutritionists believe that grapefruit is simply irreplaceable in a person’s winter diet. Indeed, in addition to the ability to improve digestion and remove “bad” cholesterol, this citrus helps to control appetite. Only 1-2 slices can wake up the taste buds and reduce the desire to eat a huge plate of “unhealthy” snacks.

But before buying a grapefruit, many are stopped by its slightly bitter taste. You can get rid of it in 2 ways.

Method 1 – Films Away!

You can sweeten the acid of the grapefruit and remove the characteristic bitterness by removing the film from the slices of the fruit, which, due to the content of glycosides and quinic acid, gives the grapefruit a bitter taste. Simply peel the film off the wedges and enjoy their refreshing taste without any bitterness.

Method 2 – honey dressing

This method is perfect when preparing salads, desserts or other dishes using grapefruit. And simply, if you pour it on a fruit cut into slices and peeled, you will not feel bitterness.

Ingredients:

  • Honey – 2 tbsp.
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Cinnamon – a pinch

Method of preparation:

1. Mix honey, lemon juice and cinnamon.

2. Peel the grapefruit, cut into thin slices and place on a plate.

3. Drizzle with sweet dressing and garnish with mint leaves or chopped nuts if desired.

Bon appetit!
