Ginger (Red Ginger) (Lactarius deliciosus) photo and description

Ginger real (lat. A lovely milkman) or simply Ryzhik well distinguished from other mushrooms.

Hat:

Hat 3 -15 cm in diameter, thick-fleshy, flat at first, then funnel-shaped, the edges are wrapped inward, smooth, slightly mucous, red or whitish-orange in color with darker concentric circles (a variety – upland mushroom) or orange with a clear bluish-green tone and the same concentric circles (a variety – spruce camelina), when touched, it turns greenish-blue.

Pulp orange, then green brittle, sometimes whitish-yellowish, quickly reddens at the break, and then turns green, secretes abundant non-burning milky juice of bright orange color, sweet, slightly pungent, with a smell of resin, which after a few hours in the air becomes grayish-green.

Leg camelina of this cylindrical shape, the color is the same as that of the hat. Height 3-6 cm, thickness 1-2 cm. The pulp of the mushroom is fragile, whitish in color, when cut it changes color to bright orange, with time or when touched it can turn green, covered with powdery coating and dotted with red pits.

Records yellow-orange, turn green when pressed, adherent, notched or slightly descending, frequent, narrow, sometimes branched.

Smell pleasant, fruity, spicy taste.

The main places of growth are mountain coniferous forests of Siberia, the Urals and the European part of Our Country.

Nutritional properties of this camelina:

Ginger – edible mushroom of the first category.

It is used mainly for salting and pickling, but it can also be consumed fried.

Not suitable for drying.

Before salting, mushrooms should not be soaked, as they can turn green and even blacken, it is enough to clean them of litter and rinse in cold water.

In medicine

The antibiotic lactarioviolin is isolated from the present Ryzhik, which suppresses the development of many bacteria, including the causative agent of tuberculosis.
