From the Taste Spain Association, World Tapas Day is coming!

Since 2013, every penultimate Thursday of June, the Tapa celebrates its International Day.onal

Who doesn’t know what a tapa? What’s more, who has never eaten a tapa? The lid and tapas they are, par excellence, elements that characterize and they differentiate Spanish gastronomy in an extraordinary way.

El Tapa World Day , or DTM, is a delicious event promoted by the Saborea España association to highlight the important role of this element of our gastronomy to make it known internationally. In fact, the ultimate goal of this association, made up of five entities, is to enhance the role of gastronomy as a tourist attraction.

What happens that day?

This day tapas and tapas will be the protagonists in all establishments Spaniards with the aim of linking this element to the Spain brand and to the way we understand society and gastronomy.

But what does this mean? On this day, hoteliers are encouraged to participate by customizing it to your taste. In this way, you will be able to find establishments in which there is a special tapa, a drink offer plus tapa, a tapas contest that customers will have to vote for, or special tapas tasting menus.

You will know that it is an establishment that participates in this initiative because it will have signs and flags of the DMT. And don’t think that you will only find participating restaurants and bars in Madrid, no, It is an event that takes place at the national level, so wherever you are that day, you will have no excuse not to go for tapas.

What kind of tapas can I find?

This question is always an unknown, it is the surprise for everyone, there is the magic: a cover can be made of anything, it will depend on how creative the participants are this year.

What we can tell you is that they are recipes proposed by some chefs for the last edition. Will they repeat themselves? We don’t know that. But, prepare to salivate.

The first innovative proposals They were a root salad with beet tartare, fresh, appetizing, and without a doubt, colorful; an omelette (without the shape of an omelette) stuffed with asparagus with brava sauce and crunchy Manchego cheese; and some shrimp tails with kataifi pasta accompanied by wasabi lactonese.

The typical tapas were not lacking either tomato, anchovy and mozzarella, with differentiating touches such as the use of flavored oils; the cooked croquettes, and other mysterious and innovative fillings, as well as the essential Madrid-style tripe.

As you can see, there are tapas for all tastes and colors, so do not hesitate, and reserve that day to enjoy tapas with your loved ones and trying new flavors.
