Fishing for bream in winter

For many, bream fishing in winter is the best pastime. Before you start fishing, you need to identify catchy places and properly equip the rod. Particular attention is paid to bait and bait, winter fishing for bream in the current and in still water is unlikely to be successful without this.

Bream habitats in winter

For winter fishing for bream, in addition to gear, other components are also important. Before baiting and lowering the mormyshka into the hole, it is necessary to study the selected reservoir. You can do this in two ways:

  • Experienced fishermen most often carry out reconnaissance in battle by measuring the bottom. The procedure is not complicated, but you will have to sweat. To take depth measurements, it is necessary to drill holes every 5-10 meters and measure the distance with a piece of fishing line and a sinker. Bream on the reservoir or on the river are fished on the edges, dumps, sharp changes in depth.
  • A more modern way to study bottom irregularities is to use an echo sounder. It will not only show the relief of the reservoir, but also signal schools of fish standing in certain places.

Successful catching of bream in winter from ice in the course and stagnant water will be in the places of wintering pits, almost all types of fish slide there, and go out to feed on the edge.

Tackle for bream in winter

Fishing for bream from the ice is carried out with the help of rods, but they are very different from those that we chose for summer or autumn fishing. Winter gear for catching any freshwater fish is more delicate, this is due to the fact that low water temperature makes the fish more lethargic, the trophy will not be able to provide proper resistance. However, one must be sure of the selected components so as not to miss the spotted individual due to stupidity.

In a fishing store, a beginner can buy already assembled tackle, or you can assemble it yourself. Each fisherman is more confident in those collected with his own hands.

Rod

Ice fishing for bream will be ideal if all the components of the gear are balanced. The rod plays an important role here. A convenient form is chosen depending on personal preferences and the bait used. The important points will be:

  • the lightness of the rod, this is important for a normal game with the chosen mormyshka;
  • for fishing in winter on a garland consisting of several mormyshkas, rods with longer handles are chosen;
  • fishing with animal bait is carried out by the so-called balalaikas, they are the most acceptable option for most fishermen.

When choosing a form, it is better to give preference to products with foam handles, this material will warm your hands even in severe frost.

There is no need to choose a reel for these baits, a winter fishing rod for bream in most cases already comes with a built-in reel. In winter, fishing on the river with a course is carried out with rods with a cork or neoprene handle, so you will have to choose a reel for them.

Line or cord

It will not be possible to catch accurately without a fishing line; thin and strong fishing lines are chosen for winter bream fishing, the maximum thickness of which should not exceed 0,18 mm. A thicker diameter will make the tackle heavier, the fish will be frightened and spit out the offered baits and lures.

For fishing on a bloodworm, a fishing line of 0,14-0 mm is enough; for a garland, 16 mm is used. Leashes are not put in winter fishing, sometimes egg-type tackle is collected on thinner fishing lines.

An excellent option for fishing a bream on a revolver will be a cord. But you should choose from a special winter series with a special anti-freeze treatment. The choice should fall on thin braids, 0,06 and 0,08 is quite enough for playing even a large bream in winter.

Hooks

Small hooks are chosen for bloodworms, experienced fishermen recommend using no more than 14-16 sizes with thin wire to cause minimal damage to bloodworms.

Mormyshki

The concept of catchy mormyshkas for bream is extensible. Much depends on the chosen reservoir, weather conditions, and sometimes the personal preferences of the fisherman. In most cases, each angler has his own favorite form of mormyshka, which he always catches. As practice shows, catching bream in winter on the current and on still water will require different types of jigs:

  • fishing for bream in winter on the river is carried out with heavier mormyshkas from 0,8 g or more, most often they use a pellet or a ball, a Uralka, a faceted ball, a bitch, a goat, a devil;
  • it is preferable to catch bream on lakes with a lighter bait, there is no current here and it will not be carried away, the shapes remain the same, but you can experiment with color.

Catching bream on the Volga involves the use of larger mormyshkas, even gramma on the current will be constantly demolished.

Nod

Fishing in winter is carried out in most cases without a float, but how then to determine the bite? For this, a nod is used, it is chosen depending on the weight of the mormyshka. Each fish decides for itself which one to choose:

  • mylar is usually softer, it is chosen for smaller mormyshkas;
  • stainless steel can be both soft and hard, it is a thin plate of steel that will sag depending on the thickness.

Feeds and baits

Just like in summer, in winter, the choice of lure and bait is important, without them it will be difficult to catch a trophy specimen.

Lure

Winter bait for bream for ice fishing is important, without pre-feeding, catching fish is impossible. Most often, anglers use purchased dry mixes, which are brought to the desired consistency with water from a reservoir.

For the current, it is better to use homemade feed, they will turn out to be more viscous and the current will not wash them away so quickly. The basis, just like in summer, is sunflower cake, boiled millet porridge, peas, and corn.

The use of attractants for winter fishing is unacceptable, any foreign smell will frighten away the fish.

Bait

Winter fishing for bream on still water and on the river is carried out using the same bait, during this period only the animal version is used. In the cold, you can attract the attention of fish:

  • bloodworm;
  • larvae of burdock and wormwood moths.

A worm would be a good option, but they had to be stocked up in the fall.

You can also try the maggot, but the bream is unlikely to want to try it.

Technique of fishing

Winter fishing is often carried out in a tent; a fisherman buys it together with an ice drill long before leaving for a pond. Having drilled holes, they start fishing itself, it consists of the following stages:

  • The first step is to carry out feeding, for this a dump truck feeder is used. It is stuffed with a sufficient amount of feed and lowered to the bottom, where the nutrient mixture is unloaded.
  • Each hole is covered with something, preventing light from entering there.
  • After 20-30 minutes, you can start fishing, the first hole will be the hole where the bait was lowered first of all.

The mormyshka is slowly lowered to the bottom, then it can be smoothly and slowly pulled.

Fishing for bream in winter

You can awaken the interest of a bream in the following ways:

  • tapping the mormyshka on the bottom;
  • it is easy to move the bait at the very bottom, raising light turbidity;
  • making a slow rise of the mormyshka by 20-30 cm with frequent fluctuations by it;
  • lowering the bait in the manner described above;
  • combine different types of wiring.

It is not always easy to understand that a bream has pecked, it often happens that the nod rises or simply freezes when playing with a mormyshka. At this moment, it is important to spot the fish and slowly start playing the trophy.

It happens that the caught fish does not crawl into the hole, in order not to lose it, you must always have a hook at hand.
