“Definitely, you shouldn’t paint eggs black, as we traditionally associate it with mourning, and Easter is its complete opposite, it is a holiday of holidays. It would also be silly to paint eggs white or red if the chicken eggs are already white or red. They should be more interesting on the Bright Sunday of Christ. “
Our interlocutor explained that it is best to dye eggs in those colors that can be obtained naturally, without resorting to different chemicals. Onion skins or red cabbage leaves, for example, will give a wonderful bright color. But from everything that can give a bright paint, but harm health, refuse.

“This is the color of Easter itself,” said the priest. – There is a legend that Saint Mary Magdalene, having come to Rome to preach the Resurrection of Christ to the Emperor Tiberius, told him about the life, miracles and teachings of Christ. The emperor doubted the miracle of the Resurrection and asked for proof. Then she took the egg and, giving it to Tiberius, exclaimed: “Christ is Risen!” At these words, the white egg in the hands of the emperor turned red. However, today you can paint eggs in any colors that your heart desires, as long as they look festive and fun. There is no dependence on what year is in the yard. And then we decorate the Christmas tree and ourselves in accordance with what year comes according to the Chinese calendar – the Blue Monkey or the Golden Dragon. There is no such connection in the Church. “

It is generally accepted that on Easter it is imperative to go to the cemetery, to visit the departed loved ones. But the position of the church in this case is fundamentally different: for a visit to the cemetery, it is better to choose another day, for example, parental Saturday. One of them – Radonitsa – falls on the ninth day after Easter. But the most glorious holiday itself must be spent in joy, a trip to the cemetery in any case will darken the mood, bring sadness.
