L’OCCITANE specialists have created a series of anti-aging care «Divine Harmony». Based on surveys of loyal customers, as well as the results of studies involving more than 200 women around the world, they chose the most effective ingredients for the skin.

Immortel flower and algae Jania Rubens (Jania Rubens) — a real miracle of photosynthesis. These two plants have the same property: they are able to transform the light and heat of the sun into organic matter. This wild flower and red algae live in Corsica — the «Island of Beauty» — in a special ecosystem that enhances the concentration of their precious molecules. Feeding on the light in the clear protected waters of the Gulf of Revellata, Jania Rubens grows slowly but steadily.

Algae capable of infinite regeneration
In the Gulf of Revellata you can find an unusual algae growing slowly but continuously. This is Jania Rubens seaweed. It thrives in the mineral-rich waters of Calvi Bay, where this unique plant has everything it needs: an abundance of sunlight and a marine environment protected from pollution and the raging waves of the high seas. Clean, calm water surface is not touched even by light ripples.
Rare, natural active ingredient derived from algae, returns to the face the volume of its soft tissues and tightens the contours. To conserve this algae, L’OCCITANE has developed an innovative sustainable breeding program for this species under controlled conditions.
First, the specialists of the STARESO center (a research center collaborating with L’OCCITANE to protect the biological diversity of the underwater world of Corsica) took only one algae sample from the Gulf of Revellata. Based on this sample, the cultivation of the alga in an aquarium was started under laboratory conditions, reproducing the unique conditions of its natural environment. This allowed the regeneration process to start producing new algae and a rare, all-natural active extract.
In the products of the Divine Harmony series, a rare extract of Jania Rubens seaweed was used for the first time in combination with the essential oil of the Corsican immortelle.. With a complex effect, the powerful ability to regenerate inherent in these components is enhanced even more. Although one of these plants grows on maquis, and the other is washed by the clear waters of the Gulf of Revellata, they have one thing in common: an incredible ability to withstand the influence of time.
The flower that never fades
Immortelle grows in abundance in two special regions on the territory of Corsica: the farm of Antoine Pieri on the Eastern Plain and the farm of Catherine Sancy in the «desert» of Agriate. Both growers master the art of traditional sickle harvesting, a method that requires a lot of patience but allows the flowers to reach their ideal degree of maturity. There is no point in trying to speed up the flowering of this noble plant, since only mature flowers have a powerful anti-aging effect.
Corsican immortelle has a unique unsurpassed rejuvenating effect. Farmers do not interfere with the natural rhythm of the flower’s ripening: sometimes it takes several weeks, or even more, to harvest two plots of land planted with Immortelle for the Divine Harmony products. This is a rare component.
The crop represents less than 10% of the total immortelle grown in Corsica under the management of L’OCCITANE, which monitors the sustainable use of natural resources. This traceable organic essential oil is one of the most concentrated available today (average 30% neryl acetate) and has a unique anti-aging effect.
Since 2004 (three years after applying for the first Immortelle patent), L’OCCITANE has been working with several Corsican farmers to cultivate this wild flower. This is the only way to ensure a constant supply of immortelle essential oil without harming its natural habitat. Due to the low yield of the product, it takes from 700 kg to a ton of flowers to produce just two liters of precious essential oil.
