Description of the apple variety Golden

The apple variety “Golden” dates back to the 90s of the nineteenth century. An apple seedling of unknown origin has grown on one plot of land. But this tree favorably differed from its counterparts, so the seedlings were propagated all over the world.

The first time a seedling begins to bear fruit for 2 or 3 years. In the early years, the tree forms a conical crown, later – a rounded one. Old trees often resemble a weeping willow: under the weight of apples, the branches are forced to bend and sag.

Apple tree “Golden” has a high yield

The shoots have a slightly curved shape and the bark is light brown in color and a pronounced greenish tint. The glossy leaves of a rich green color have a regular oval shape with an elongated tip and clearly traced veins. The leaves are smooth to the touch.

Medium-sized white flowers have a faint pink tint. Since the variety is self-fertile, it needs pollinators. This variety is quite simple to grow, although it is recommended to grow in warmer regions.

Characteristics of the apple variety “Golden”

The Golden apple tree is distinguished by its high yield, disease resistance and good taste of the fruit. From a small six-year-old tree, at least 15 kg of apples can be removed. True, in the adult period, the inconstancy of fruiting should be noted.

Medium-sized fruits have a regular round or conical shape. The average apple weight ranges from 130 to 220 g.

Too plentiful harvest or lack of moisture are the main reasons for small fruiting, therefore, in order to obtain large fruits, the tree must be well watered.

The skin of the fruit is dry, firm and slightly rough. Unripe apples are bright green in color, but acquire a pleasant golden color as they ripen. On the south side, the fruit may be reddish. Small brown dots are clearly visible on the surface of the skin.

The flesh of freshly picked greenish fruits is firm, juicy and aromatic. Apples that have been lying in storage for some time acquire a softer and more pleasant taste and a yellowish color.

The quality and quantity of the crop depends on the weather and proper care.

The fruits are harvested in September. They can lie in storage until spring. If stored properly, they do not lose their taste even until April.

Golden deserves to grow in every garden. Excellent transportability and keeping quality, high yields and taste of apples are the main advantages of this variety.
