Daylily hybrid: photo, varieties
Garden plots are decorated and ennobled by an elegant flower – hybrid daylily. All day long you can admire its opened bud. But the fleeting beauty of this flower makes the pleasure sharper.
Description of hybrid daylilies
Daylily is a perennial herb known as hemerocallis. In Russia, it is called krasodnev for instant flowering. Daylily is unpretentious, tolerates both high humidity and severe drought equally well. The ability to interbreed with different types of plants gave flower growers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of hybrids.
In the photo, hybrid daylilies show not only different shades of petals, but also a pleasant combination of several flowers in one bud. There are simple, double, arachnid, multi-forms of the bud, when another is formed inside one inflorescence. The appearance of this flower differs from variety to variety. However, there are common signs:
- powerful root;
- dense, dense green leaves of an elongated shape, with a fan-shaped arrangement;
- a large number of peduncles – more than 20;
- long flowering period, from 3 weeks to 3 months.
The hybrid flower withers during the day if it opens in the morning, or during the day if it opens in the late afternoon. The height of the plants is different: from 30 to 80 cm.
The variety of daylily forms makes it difficult to classify its varieties. So, according to the shape of the petals and their color, the following groups are distinguished:
- Terry daylilies surprise with a large number of petals. The bud looks like a peony, sometimes with several levels of petals. Very beautiful varieties: cherry “Night Ambers”, coral “Lacey Dolly”, yellow “Double River Wye”.
- Ruffled daylilies have a characteristic petal edge. Popular are the light pink Janice Brown, the lilac Bestseller, the coral yellow Divas Choice, and the Double Dream tea variety.
- Spiders have a characteristic double coloration and arachnid petals. They bloom for a long time and are not afraid of cold, rainy weather. Beautiful violet-yellow “Epplike”, blood-red “Crimson Pirate”, yellow-burgundy “Free Wilin”.
- Daylilies of multi-shape amaze with a bizarre combination of fancy shape and size petals. Purple “Tetraploid Burgundy Love”, soft lilac “Entrapment”, black “Voodoo Dancer” – this is a real man-made miracle.
Varieties of hybrids differ in winter hardiness, stem height, bud size. It is not easy for a novice florist to choose from dozens of flower variations. But the unpretentiousness of these flowers in any case will make acquaintance with them pleasant.
Hybrid daylily is a convenient type of garden plants to grow. Breeders have bred many varieties that differ in color and flower shape, but are equally beautiful.
