Condyloma

General description of the disease

Condyloma – formations on the skin and mucous membranes of a benign nature, resembling cauliflower.

Allocate broad and pointed condylomas. They are solitary (rare cases) or plural… A distinctive feature is considered to be an unusual appearance (similar to cauliflower or cockscombs) and the way the warts are connected to the skin (using a small and thin stem). Basically, they have a flesh or pink tint. In the presence of several hundred genital warts, condylomatosis occurs.

The main causes of occurrence are hereditary factors and papilloma infection with a virus.

The method of transmission in adults is sexual intercourse, in children – the transmission of the virus from mother to child (when the baby passes the birth canal during childbirth). Also, the infection can be picked up in common swimming pools, hairdressing salons, on a pedicure or manicure (if discharge from genital warts gets in).

Warts appear after 2-3 months after infection with the virus. If a person has strong immunity at the time of infection, then the disease can slow down its development and will manifest itself only when the immunity is weakened (even after 10 years).

Reduced immunity can be due to:

  • the presence of several sexual partners at the same time period or due to constant promiscuous sexual intercourse;
  • started sexual activity at an early age;
  • abortion or childbirth, during which the inflammatory process began in the cervix;
  • infections and diseases that are inherited through sexual contact;
  • using birth control pills as a method of contraception;
  • anemia;
  • disorders in the thyroid gland;
  • persistent coccal infections – due to caries, tonsillitis and sinusitis;
  • pregnancy (in women, the human papilloma virus is most often found during pregnancy, because during this period the body becomes weakened – all forces go to the growth and development of the fetus);
  • bad habits (caffeine abuse, smoking, not getting enough sleep);
  • adherence to strict (hungry) diets;
  • obesity;
  • hormonal disruptions.

Locations:

  1. 1 in women – on the vulva, in the vagina, on the labia minora, cervix;
  2. 2 in men – in the groin area, on the head and foreskin of the genital organ;
  3. 3 general – near the anus;
  4. 4 rare cases – on the neck, lips, cheeks, tongue, in the mouth.

Complications:

  • inflammatory processes on condylomas, their injury due to which ulcers can form;
  • in men, the foreskin may narrow (paraphimosis and phimosis);
  • in women – infertility;
  • a neoplasm can develop from benign to malignant (the most common cases of cancer of the genitourinary sphere in men and cervical cancer are in women).

All this can be if you do not start treatment for genital warts.
