Catching bream for corn

Corn is one of the most successful baits for catching peaceful fish. But success is guaranteed only to those fishermen who know how to properly use the grains. Fishing for bream on corn is not very popular, as this fish is more attracted to other types of bait. With the skillful use of the “queen of the fields” you can easily catch trophy fish.

Does bream bite on corn

Traditionally, bream is caught on maggots and red worms, but this fish is omnivorous, so other types of bait can be used. Many fishermen don’t know if bream bites on canned corn, just because they’ve never tried it as bait. If you prepare correctly, choose the right time, equipment and place, you can get a rich catch.

What is good corn as a nozzle:

  • retains freshness for a long time;
  • keeps perfectly on the hook, even with a strong current;
  • always available bait – in any season you can find it on sale and even cook it yourself;
  • universal;
  • catchy.

These advantages are only in a natural canned or boiled product. Silicone bright substitutes do not always work, only in the season of active biting, when the bream goes to any bait.

How to choose bait corn

Most often, fishermen use the usual Bonduelle canned corn, which can be purchased at any supermarket, but this is not the best option. It is better to set aside time and visit a fishing shop to purchase special bait prepared for fishing. In the preparation of such vegetable baits, natural aromatic additives are used. Fishing will be as successful as possible if you choose options with the following flavors:

  • vanilla;
  • Strawberry;
  • raspberries;
  • garlic;
  • hemp.

Do not pour liquid from an open canned product. Experienced fishermen use it to mix bait on breadcrumbs, cake, bran or cereals.

Cooking at home

Bait can be prepared from fresh or mature, dry corn. It can be prepared immediately for several fishing trips or even for the whole season. The recipe for a universal bait that will catch fish all year round:

  • rinse a glass of dry grains and put in a saucepan;
  • pour cold water and leave overnight;
  • Add water and boil over low heat for 20 minutes.

You can drain the water and freeze, or immediately take it on a fishing trip and plant it. If the bait is used for summer fishing, you can add a little salt so that it does not go bad. You can also use it to prepare bait – grind it in a meat grinder and put it in a feeder for feeder fishing.

If you pour boiled grains with odorous, unrefined sunflower oil, they can be stored for 2 weeks in the refrigerator. The aroma of the oil will additionally attract fish.

How to catch bream on corn

First you need to decide on a place. Large individuals are more than 3-4 kg, live at an average depth – from 3-4 meters, in rivers and lakes, as well as in artificial reservoirs and reservoirs. This fish prefers a calm current or even its absence.

Tooling

You can fish on a feeder, on a fishing rod with a float, on a donk. The choice of rod depends on the reservoir and the method of fishing. If you plan to fish from the shore or from bridges to a float rod, then you need to give preference to options from 4-5 meters, since the casting distance is important. There are no fish in shallow water, except during the spawning season, but fishing is prohibited at this time. The hook should be chosen No. 5, it is also necessary to use the thinnest leashes.

It is worth choosing a thin fishing line, since this type of fish is quite shy and if it notices something alarming, it will not bite even the most appetizing bait.

Time

The bream bite all year round, but not all seasons are equally good for fishing. The most active biting is observed during such periods:

  • May-June – the fish is hungry during the spawning period and bites on any bait;
  • autumn – from mid-September, fish become active in rivers and lakes, eat off before a long and hungry winter;
  • winter is a good time for fishing, but you need to choose areas with clear water and rocky or sandy bottoms.

It bites worst of all in the second half of summer, especially on hot days. August is the month when it is better to switch to other types of fish for a while. The bream is inactive, sits at a depth. But even at this time, if you use fresh bait and follow the rules, you can not be left without a catch.

Lure

Since the fish is quite voracious, you can additionally apply top dressing. Before you put corn on a hook on a bream and cast, you should feed it with a pre-prepared mixture. As bait, nutrient mixtures based on such raw materials are used:

  • cake;
  • bran;
  • rice;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • peas.

Experienced fishermen who have become owners of trophy individuals speak positively in videos and on forums about the use of hominy as bait.

To make the bait more effective, it is worth using aromatic additives and liquids in the preparation.

Bait

Corn can be planted alone or used in a “sandwich”. If the river is calm with a clean bottom, you can combine it with a red worm and maggot or bloodworm. Which of these additional baits will fit better is to be determined experimentally.

Here is how you can plant corn for bream fishing:

  • on a hook – one or two grains are threaded so that the point remains free;
  • on the hair – a small piece of thin fishing line is fixed to the main line with a cambric, several grains are threaded through it, and a hook is tied (you can put a bloodworm or maggot on it);
  • sandwich – first a grain is put on, after it a red worm, maggot or bloodworm.

The setting does not have to be done in such a way that the hook is completely hidden in the bait. On the contrary, the tip must be released, otherwise the bites will be ineffective.
