Best Artisan Butter Croissant in Spain 2014 Contest

The Barcelona Gremio Pastry School has called the contest for the election of the Best Artisan Butter Croissant in Spain.

This will be your seventh edition and following the basic premises of the contest, it is intended to recover and promote the traditional elaboration of this succulent delicacy of origin French.

Registration for the contest has been open for more than a month, and its closing date to be able to present itself expires on October 3.

It will only take 4 days for the winner to be known on the 7th, which will come out of the croissants sent that same day to the headquarters of the School, between 9 and 11 in the morning, freshly made!

The objective of the contest is to encourage and reward the knowledge and skills of pastry chefs in the field of pastry, specifically a product as emblematic as the croissant, thus recognizing the profession and quality of the country’s artisan pastry.

The time has come for professionals in the pastry sector to show their skills and knowledge for the preparation of artisan and fresh pastries.

At the moment only professionals with an establishment open to the public will be able to opt for this award since the school does not accept registrations from individuals, for now …

The requirements are simple, and in order to participate you only have to:

  • Make twelve pieces of butter croissant, as the only fat raw material among its ingredients.
  • The pieces must have an approximate weight of 50gr, straight or crescent.
  • With a flaky and alveolate appearance and simple, without decoration or filling.
  • Important, in the fold of the dough they should only present 3 turns.

The jury of the contest will value above all the color, the alveolado, the puff pastry, the finish and of course the Flavor !.

The winner will get a cash prize 1.000 euros, and the certification granted by the School as the winner of the Event.
