A story of beauty and success

In 2014, Tatyana Mikhailovna has three significant dates: 70 years from the date of birth, 50 years of creative activity and 25 years of the museum of hairdressing art created by her.

Tatyana Okhapkina began her professional career as a cleaner in a hairdressing salon. Then she became a male and then a female master. Having become a high-class professional, she organized and headed an experimental laboratory at the Yaroslavl regional association of hairdressing salons. The laboratory staff trained the hairdressers of the Yaroslavl region in new methods of work, improved their professional skills. The work of Tatyana Mikhailovna became an example not only for hundreds of young masters of the Yaroslavl region – six members of her large family found a place in the hairdressing business. Two of them are European champions: Tatiana Mikhailovna’s son, Viktor Okhapkin, and niece, Natalya Morozova.

And in the museum, thanks to Tatyana Mikhailovna herself and her friends, exhibits from the eighteenth century to the present day are collected. Among the items are all kinds of hairdressing accessories and materials about the oldest hairdressers in Yaroslavl. Yaroslavl residents and guests of the city can see unique things from the Okhapkina Museum at an exhibition in the Museum of the City History.
