7 reasons not to throw away your banana peel (tricks of the day)

Bananas are delicious and nutritious on their own, and they’re a great ingredient in a wide variety of dishes, sweet or not.

But it turns out that everything about a banana is wonderful, even its peel, which we usually throw away. There are at least 7 reasons not to do this.

For teeth whitening

After brushing, rub your teeth with the inside of the peel for 3 minutes. During this time, valuable minerals penetrate into the enamel, which are so rich in banana peel. This will help remove yellowness from the teeth and make them lighter.

For a home first aid kit

Banana peels contain essential oils and enzymes with healing effects. Therefore, for scratches, cuts, irritations or burns, you can apply the inner surface of the banana peel to the affected area. Secure the rind with a bandage or plaster and allow a couple of hours for the skin to take relief from it.

Instead of a water filter

Banana peel has a high ability to absorb lead, copper, nickel, cadmium, uranium and other toxic metals from water. Therefore, if there is no filter on hand and you need to purify the water, just put a well-washed banana peel in the water and hold it for a while.

To get rid of the splinter

If you can’t get the splinter out, place a piece of banana peel with the inside on the area with the splinter, secure with a plaster and leave it for a day. The enzymes will pull the splinter to the surface of the skin, and you can easily remove it.

For silver care

Moody silver darkens regularly. Try peeling it next time with a banana peel. After all, it also contains fruit acids. Simply wipe the silver items with the inside of the peel, rinse with water and blot with a soft cloth or tissue.

For plant fertilization

Banana peel replaces a wide range of plant care products. First, it will make an excellent aphid remedy: place three skins in a three-liter jar, fill with water at room temperature and leave for two days. Strain, dilute with water 1: 1 and water the plants with this infusion. Secondly, with the inside of the peel, you can clean the leaves of flowers (such as ficus, orchid, croton, monstera) from dust and give them a luxurious shine. And finally, an effective fertilizer is prepared from the banana peel: cut the peel into small pieces and bury it in the soil next to the plants.

Shoe shine

You will be surprised – after all, we have already listed so many beneficial properties of banana peel – but it even contains natural wax, as well as potassium. And these are the 2 essential ingredients of shoe polish! And if your shoes need to be cleaned, experiment with banana peels to compete with your regular shoe cleaner.

To do this, remove the fibers from the inside of the skin with a knife, wipe the surface of leather boots or shoes with it, and then polish the shoes to a shine with a soft cloth. And a pleasant aroma of bananas will be a bonus to the nice looking shoes.
