The role of honey in Ayurveda

In ancient Indian medicine, honey is considered one of the most effective, sweet natural remedies. It has healing properties, full of vitamins and minerals, enzymes and antioxidants, sugars and even some amino acids. The unique combination of fructose and glucose makes honey sweeter than table sugar.

1. Very good for eye health and vision.

2. Neutralizes the action of the poison.

3. Harmonizes Kapha dosha

4. Cleanses wounds (in Ayurveda, honey is also used externally)

5. Promotes cell regeneration

6. Quenches thirst

7. Freshly picked honey has a mild laxative effect.

8. Stops hiccups

In addition, Ayurveda recommends honey for helminthic invasion, vomiting, and asthma. It should be remembered that fresh honey promotes weight gain, while old honey causes constipation and weight loss.

According to Ayurveda, there are 8 varieties of honey, each of which has a different effect.

Makshikam. Used for eye problems, hepatitis, asthma, tuberculosis and fever.

Braamaram (bhraamaram). Used for vomiting blood.

Kshoudram. Used in the treatment of diabetes.

Pauthikam. It is used for diabetes, as well as genitourinary infections.

Chatram (Chatram). It is used for helminthic invasion, diabetes and vomiting with blood.

Aardhyam (Aardhyam). Used for eye problems, flu and anemia

Ouddalakam. Used for poisoning and leprosy.

Daalam (Daalam). Stimulates digestion and is prescribed for influenza, vomiting and diabetes.

Precautions that are very important to consider if you use honey in your diet and for medicinal purposes:

A mixture of honey with ground black pepper and ginger juice in equal proportions three times a day relieves asthma symptoms.

One glass of warm water with 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, taken in the morning, cleanses the blood.

For those who have vision problems or work at a computer for a long time, it is recommended to regularly take a mixture of carrot juice and 2 teaspoons of honey.
