What happens in our body during a cold?
The common cold is a very common infection, caused by a virus, which affects the nose and throat, with an average symptom duration of 11 days. Once the virus hits us, what happens and why?

Why do we sneeze?

The nostrils are lined with hairs and mucus that trap unwanted people to prevent them from passing into the rest of the airways.

We sneeze when irritants enter our airways, breaking through the barrier of nose hair. When the cold virus manages to get past this line of defense, we sneeze to expel the intruder.

The function of sneezing is therefore to cleanse the nose of all intruders that are there.
