Week 35 of pregnancy – 37 WA

Baby side

Our baby is about 45 centimeters and weighs almost 2 grams.

His development

If born now, our baby is able to live independently. However, if there are still a few days or weeks inside the uterus, it is to continue to grow harmoniously. He takes almost 15 grams per day. In addition, in her brain, the process of myelination has started, and will continue for a long time after birth. This is the protection of neurons by a sheath called myelin. It is essential for proper nervous functioning.

On our side

It is the beginning of the ninth month. Phew! The weight of the uterus changes dramatically. The baby is “engaging” in the pelvis and this relieves the pressure in the upper body considerably. Suddenly, we suffer less from acid reflux in the esophagus or shortness of breath that we could suffer in recent weeks. However, as the baby continues to grow, his feet and little kicks, especially, may reach our ribs again by the end of the pregnancy! If our baby has not yet turned around, and is therefore in breech, it is likely that we are offered a version by external maneuvers. This consists of pressing on the stomach to turn the baby and put it upside down, the ideal position for childbirth. The success rate is around 50-60%. In case of failure, it is possible to give birth by vaginal delivery (VBAC) if an obstetrician is found who accepts it.

In our head

In recent days, it is possible that our dreams have been quite intense. The approach to childbirth has something to do with it. We do not hesitate to talk about it with the midwife in the maternity ward. Giving birth to a child is really something very special and it is normal for this to worry and trouble us.

Our memo

We make an appointment for our seventh prenatal consultation. This is theoretically the last visit. Our doctor checks, among other things, our blood pressure, weight, fundal height, cervix and the baby’s position.
