Week 30 of pregnancy – 32 WA

30th week of pregnancy: baby side

Our baby measures approximately 29 centimeters from head to tailbone, and weighs approximately 1 grams.

His development

On ultrasound, we can no longer see the whole baby, it has become too bulky. Moreover, for reasons of comfort, most babies at this stage are positioned upside down. This position is the most favorable for childbirth. If our baby is not upside down, it does not matter, he can still do this pirouette on his own. At the same time, he continues to give small strokes. As it is now more imposing, we must see our stomachs take funny shapes!

30th week of pregnancy: on our side

Our belly is not far from its maximum height. Afterwards, it may seem lower to us, simply because the baby is preparing for birth: he positions himself upside down and begins to press. This is why, moreover, we say that it is “low”. The internal pressures are different and, as a result, some inconveniences will subside: you feel a little less short of breath, digestion will be a little easier.

Our advice

We watch his legs … If they swell at the end of the day, that’s normal. However, if our feet swell and stay that way, if our hands and our face suffer the same fate … we go directly to the maternity ward, this could be one of the warning signs of pre-eclampsia. (or toxemia of pregnancy), a complication of the third trimester of pregnancy. This pathology must be treated as soon as possible because it can have serious consequences for the baby and the mother.

Our exams

Our third ultrasound is due to take place these days. It makes it possible to check that the fetus is growing well and that it is upside down, in preparation for childbirth. The sonographer also looks at the organs to see if, since the 2nd trimester ultrasound, they have not developed abnormalities. This is theoretically our last ultrasound before the birth of our baby.
