Watermelon Ham appeared in a New York restaurant
 

Whether for the sake of vegans who secretly yearn for meat, or to entertain the meat-eaters, the chef from Manhattan restaurant Will Horowitz prepared the watermelon in such a way that outwardly it is difficult to distinguish it from a real ham. The truth only becomes apparent when the dish is cut. But even then it looks great – appetizing and aromatic.

Despite the fact that barbecue meat dishes prevail in the place where Will works, the watermelon fits perfectly into the concept of the restaurant.

The chef declares that the dish is his creative experiment. A watermelon ham is prepared as follows – first, the peel is cut off from the watermelon, then the pulp is marinated with salt and herbs for four days, and then smoked for eight hours and baked in its own juice.

 

Outwardly, the dish is unrealistically similar to smoked ham, and it is very difficult to believe that in fact it is just a watermelon. It is noted that the ham of watermelon has a delicious sweet-salty flavor with smoky notes that does not resemble watermelon or meat.

The pleasure of trying such a culinary experiment is not cheap – $ 75. But the dish goes off with a bang. Culinary critics have already highly praised the watermelon ham and recommend taking it as an appetizer with a meat steak.
