Tuberous scaly (Pholiota tuberculosa) is a fungus of the Strophariaceae family, belonging to the genus Scaly (Foliot).

The fruiting body of the described species is agaric, consisting of a stem and a cap. Mushroom hymenophore is lamellar, may be folded, contain rudimentary plates in its composition. The constituent elements of the hymenophore, called plates, are characterized by a large width, reddish-brown color. The mushroom cap is 1-2 (sometimes 5) cm in diameter. Fibers and small scales are clearly visible on it. The shape of the mushroom cap is convex, has an ocher-brown color.

The leg is felt, characterized by a brown-yellow color, and is 1.5-2 cm in diameter. The spores of the fungus contain pores, are characterized by an ellipsoid shape and microscopic dimensions of 6-7 * 3-4 microns.

Lumpy scales live mainly on the substrate, living trees, wood of dead vegetation. You can also see this mushroom on deadwood, stumps left after cutting down hardwood trees. The described species bears fruit from August to October.

Nothing is known about the nutritional properties of tuberculate scales. The mushroom belongs to the category of conditionally edible.

Tuberous scaly (Pholiota tuberculosa) has no similarities with other varieties of mushrooms.
