Molluscum contagiosum

– a disease that is caused by a virus, manifested by nodular rashes of skin color.

Routes of transmission of molluscum contagiosum

Molluscum contagiosum is transmitted sexually (contact with affected skin), as well as through household contact. The incubation period of molluscum contagiosum ranges from two weeks to several months.

Molluscum contagiosum symptoms

The nodules are of dense consistency, painless, do not differ in color from normal skin or are pale pink, and can be single or multiple.

The rashes are localized on the face, including the eyelids, neck, torso, especially in the armpits, perineum, and external genitalia.

Treatment of molluscum contagiosum

Elements of the mollusk can be removed using cryodestruction, an electrocoagulator, or a radio scalpel (surgitron). The choice of method is individual and depends on the size and location of the nodules.
