The tide is smaller, because Poles know the symptoms and isolate themselves: “They don’t pretend it’s just a cold”

Dr. Łukasz Rąbalski, a virologist from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, told PAP that the peak of the summer COVID-19 incidence will be milder than the previous ones.

What it comes from? The virologist emphasizes that this is largely due to the Poles themselves, who no longer pretend that their COVID-19 symptoms are “just a cold” and isolate themselves in the event of a disease. – People among whom I am are aware of the danger and test themselves at the slightest symptoms – he emphasized.

In his opinion, all indications are that the peak of the summer COVID-19 wave, which is yet to come, will be milder than the previous ones. – It can already be seen that among the newly infected there are much fewer people requiring hospitalization. This is due to the fact that the current variant of the virus is less virulent, and most Poles have been vaccinated and a large group of COVID-19 has already contracted, which increases their immunity.

The doctor admits that there are many sick people, but not all of them are tested. – We did several tests per week for COVID-19 and 80 percent. they came out positive – he reveals.

Dr. Matyjaszczyk believes that it is advisable to have vaccines before the fall, both for COVID-19 and flu, because “both are important and I recommend both not only to seniors”. It is about prevention, because the doctor warns that a very difficult period awaits us in the fall. – Even if the infections are mild, the number of cases will amount to 10. a day will exclude large groups from normal activity – he warns.
