The dream part …
Rest assured, we are far from terrifying monsters and scary universes. The drawings look like manga but without the violent or trashy content of some boys’ comics. The favorite witches of our little fleas have nothing to do with evil witches with hook noses and dressed all in black! Quite the contrary, they are all cute, always styled and dressed in the latest fashion. In addition, they are on the good “side of the force” since they only practice white magic. Spells and magic potions have only one goal: to save the planet threatened by the forces of Evil. This fantastic universe allows girls to dream. But, behind these stories, the message is clear: “the fight against Evil makes it possible to highlight certain values such as friendship, courage, surpassing oneself … without forgetting humor and glamor”, adds Cécile Legenne.
… and reality
Beyond the fantasy side, the heroines are pre-teens like ours. Indeed, they go to school and have the same concerns as girls of around ten (making friends, understanding their parents, etc.) ”The fact that they are anchored in everyday life allows girls to identify with their favorite characters and project themselves, says Cécile Legenne. At this age, little girls want to grow up. When Witch’s five witches transform, they become much more feminine. All of this helps them understand the transition from being a child to being an adult. And by putting forward a number of positive values, heroines are role models. ”
Nothing to do with horror stories featuring horrible frightening monsters. The universe of comics and TV series remains childish while reflecting the concerns of 8-12 year olds. The key to success: make our little girls dream while providing them with advice in their daily lives.
Is it his age or not? The marvelous is so fashionable that Léa is sometimes tempted to look a little higher, on the side of the series for the greatest like for example Charmed (there is also an Internet site, a magazine…). Some episodes of this TV series are not recommended for at least 10 or even 12 years because of the violence of some scenes. Without banning everything altogether, it’s up to us to keep an eye on its TV programs. |
